Not dumb at all, thanks Minchanka and whateve. I had found an old post that suggested vinegar so I will try that. And I’ve tried water. Maybe mineral oil as well but I’m a bit afraid that will break it down.

NYC stewardess. Looks like burgundy. I think. $58 nma.
Look what I found on Mercari! Vintage Oxblood Leat… posted by AintWeSwank https://item.mercari.com/gl/m67442528294/
Wow, I could really go for a burgundy bag. I wish the pics were a little crisper. When I look at the pic of the back, I like to take a good look at the trim on the sides at top because that’s were I often see the piping starting to wear through. And I like to The condition of the flap where it folds over. The pics are kind of hazy. I will have to check it out on my nice big work monitor later.

Few more pics at the PM but the pictures are the same quality. And cut off.. my pet peeves about the app. It won't let you recenter or move around the pic. You will take a great pic and upload it and find it's cut off.

I could sooooo rehab this! At first I thought it was a Pocket bag, but the strap isn’t right. The seller does not list measurements, it may be the smaller version, Compartment bag? It’s too small for me. I will pass.

It's probably the larger of the two Compartment Bags, seen here. The smaller one has the skinny tubular strap.
