Well the water stains didn't come out. I wish I could do something about those water marks. City bag released smoke odor in the bath so it's getting a vinegar bath now.

You guys.....!!!!!! I found a HG bag today! I’ve been wanting one of these and came across one at my local consignment shop marked $28 and half off of that. And it’s RED and a NYC bag! I can’t wait to get it in the water and clean it up. So stoked (or whatever word the cool kids are using these days)!

All these vintage finds out there! I can almost see my Pony, my double clutch, kisslock purse I don't know the name of . . .

Well I just drooled over your pic of the BTs while I ate lunch and then had to sit my ass at computer for the afternoon and periodically talk to our least favorite client.
I'll take rehabbing ANY bag over that. Hand me a toothbrush, the Dawn and the bottle of vinegar.

My Brit city bag had a lot of scratches, some deep and garden variety stains. Admittedly I was going for a moderately distressed ( not beyond the point of no return , though) patina of a used Brit. I used lots and lots of LT conditioner followed by a generous application of Obenauf's Oil and lastly Black Rock. The stains and deep scratches were toned down a bit and I feel all the conditioning gave it a warm rich feel, attractively distressed. Maybe that will be the most realistic outcome for your bag. I can't be the only one that likes all variety of Brits *glances at Brits on dining room chair, door knob of hall closet, next to desk . . .*

Maybe they have hopes after all. Lol @BT bags everywhere. I have the same problem. That's why they have to go. They are cluttering up space everywhere!

Has anyone tried to remove patina from British Tan leather? This bag’s trim is so dark-a little too dark for my taste. It’s been through a General bath and I lightly scrubbed the trim with blue Dawn but that’s it so far.

The only thing that might help is wiping with vinegar.
