As many of you know I but this in a net bag and washed it it cold in the machine. It's mine and jacquard was looking brown in spots. Washing didn't fix it. I conditioned leather parts after I reshaped and let dry. Trying painting her jacquard spots with RIT dye (as suggested here). Almost all is on front so hopefully I don't have dye transfer on me down the road. I'm gently paint / blending it. So coat two was today. Wish me luck.

I bought this purse at a bargain. It needs a good clean but I am unsure how to proceed. What would be the best course of action. Thanks.http://www.ebay.com/itm/COACH-RARE-...e=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649

"ITS HAPPENING AGAIN!" eBay must have changed something!!!

Anyway, about your bag, I'd throw that puppy in the wash. Pretreat, pretreat, pretreat. If you have an HE washer select the setting to fill up the entire tub with water. Turn off the spin cycle if you can. Put the bag in a lingerie bag or a pillow case.

As rehabbers, we often have to deal with lost hangtags and obtaining replacements, it's just part of the challenge! But lately I have been getting worried about losing the unique hangtags that come with the 1941 bags - and I am always concerned about losing my beloved charms and fobs!

I've come up with an approach to add some extra security and hopefully prevent losses, but I am not so sure how I feel about the look of the bag after I add protection. Please take a look at the pics and poll at the link below and give me your opinions, thanks!

Hang in there! I have zero experience with pebbled leather; somebody who has will see this soon and respond.
Can I be funny/flip? Not like you pulled a *frankenbag* ! Okay attempt to distact you over.
I agree it looked better before. Did you buff? Did you use the Blackrocks as directed? I've used Blackrocks on pebbled leather with great results before. You have to put it on very thinly and wipe off the excess immediately with a paper towel. At this point, I would buff it with a brush to bring out the shine. It's normal for the color to darken.

Did you have it authenticated?
Thank you! Yes, I just had it authenticated by Hyacinth. I was so excited to experiment I didn't do that before I started...she couldn't find the name of the style but thought it might be part of the Bleeker line...apparently there's a smooth leather version of the same bag.
I'm wondering if I used the Blackrocks incorrectly...I didn't wipe it off immediately...I've buffed with a cloth and a horsehair (kiwi) brush. I like the shape I got back but the lack of shine bothers me....Would staring again work in terms of a dunk or is there something else I should try? I've had issues with pebbled leather (not coach) bags before and Lexol...feeling a little "snake bit" on this type of leather.

"Snort!" ...yes, you have to laugh doing this....Thank you! I love the term "frankenbag" and I do want to hear the story of how that originated. Is there a post? : )

What am I doing wrong? This bag looked better before I dunked and conditioned...Dunked simply to get the shape back but now it's not nearly as shiny. I know pebbled leathers are tricky. I used Lexol then Blackrocks (which i think is where I went wrong). If I start over again with dunking then try Apple conditioner, could that work or is there something else I should do? thanks
first pic is before/second is after I "rehabbed"/messed it up : (

I would guess it's the Blackrocks making it dull. That happened to me before when I didn't use it correctly. I used too much and made the bag dull and sticky. My hubs had to put a great deal of elbow grease into buffing with a hand towel before it looked good again. The last couple of times I've used it, I took a quarter-sized dollop and rubbed it in between my palms like pomade and warmed it up good and then spread very sparingly into the bag. That seems to work much better for me. I then buffed with a soft cloth. Don't despair! It can be corrected!

Yep, like the others, I think it's probably a little too much Black Rock. I think it takes even longer to soak into pebbled leather. Let it sit for another few days and buff it with the brush. It should improve, at least a bit.

Thanks. I don't have access to my own machine at the moment so I will hand wash it in the sink. This will be the first time I've washed a cloth and leather bag since most of my other rehabs have been American made all leather bags which all were successfully rehabbed. I'm a little concerned about the leather trim and the fact that washing linen makes it lose its crispness. Can you still buy that stuff that perked shirt collars up?

Fellow rehabbers,

Can anyone tell me if Sonoma hardware is brass or plated? I have a nubuck bag with style number K5M 4933 that has a brass zipper pull and some oblong pieces that attach the straps to the body of the bag. I thought both were brass but I started in with extra fine sandpaper and I fear that I have just exposed nickle.

Is there a specific year when Coach switched over from solid brass? I believe this bag is from 1995, is that correct?

Thanks in advance!1506292781621-985812080.jpg 1506292781621-985812080.jpg 15062928911621676642642.jpg

Sorry, i dont know why some of my photos duplicate!

One final question regarding nubuck - what do you use on piping issues or cracks at the seams? I've had to glue a tear and I am thinking that acrylic paint will look obvious over the glue. ( This bag was super cheap if y'all are wondering why I am bothering with this sad thing .)

Did you miss "nubuc is the devil" post?? Lol! Don't fight a losing battle! I'm not sure you can do anything about the cracks unless you find some matching nubuc to fix/patch or what not to try* (lol) to repair it. Good luck!
