I don't know, maybe Apple or Lexol? I've only used Leather Therapy a couple of times, and I think it changed the color of the leather. I've used Blackrocks on new bags as I think it provides the best protection but it might darken a bit.

I've used Leather Therapy a lot and it has never changed the bag's color for me.

I had been following your previous posts and yeah I doubt the seller really knows for sure unless he was the original owner. I just had bad luck with your new found courier style bag. I found one on mercari for $40 and was excited to get it but when I got it, it felt like it would almost fall apart in my hands! It was in so much worse condition than described. The seller did say it was well loved and had scratches and scuffs which I was fine with. But sit never mentioned any torn leather it holes! When I told her that she didn't mention those she told me that she did say it had scratches and scuffs. Um yeah they are not the same thing. I did see a little tear in the front piping and for that little size I was willing to try out puffy paint for the first time. I almost fainted when I saw that poor bag.
Looks pretty good here:

But you really can't see all the other damages. Not sure if the strap was intentionally placed so you won't be able to see it but look at these photos:

I sent these photos to mercari and luckily they approved my return request!

Oh that's some really bad damage in the last photo. Awful! I wouldn't know what to do to fix that. Glad you're getting a refund!

So glad I made the choice to return that red bag....because today I found THIS! A unicorn! I think I heard angels sing. It was in a high end consignment shop for $103?! The inspection slip and all the other goodies in the last picture were in the inside zip pocket. i didn't even log in to authenticate 'cause I knew it was real as soon as I touched it...But now I'm made of questions, particularly after reading the Coach literature that came with it. First....is there anyway to find out when this particular bag was made since it was never registered? Registration slip was still in the bag. With the "Made in New York City" I know that narrows it down some and the literature with the bag was printed in 1982. Could anyone take a guess? Also, and this feels kinda crazy to ask, but do I do anything to condition it before I carry it? This is actually my first new/unused coach bag. It basically says "don't do nothing" in the instructions, but of course those instructions are probably over thirty years old? Should I use any kind of conditioner before I carry it? I have Lexol, Leather Therapy, Apple, and Black Rock. Makes me laugh, I'll dunk anything I come across and slather all kinds of conditioner and concotions on it it, but this one "scares me"- Don't want to mess it up! : ) PS I have the hangtag too but took it off before the pictures cause it has some of the green stuff on the chain and I didn't want it to get on the bag...The tag is only printed on one side like the older ones.
Great find! That's some interesting notes about leather care in there. Shoe wax???? No thanks! But thanks for sharing the documents too. Those are fun to find. Looks like it might not need any conditioner but my go to for a quick easy condition is always leather CPR. It soaks in really fast and doesn't change the color.

That would have been my recommendation too, but she doesn't have it.

Thanks for your replies....It's definitely not tarnish. The color is a dead on match for the overall color of the bag. If it has just been that the leather was colored, I would have grumbled but gotten over it, chalking it up to a learning experience. But they shipped it in the tiniest darn bag and charged $15 dollars shipping. I took a picture before I opened it because I was so horrified....The way it was folded in half stretched the opening a bit around where the turnlock is fastened so it's a bit damaged too- so this started out badly before I even got the wrapping open. I used the coke can just to show scale....View attachment 3831536
Please, please, tell me you are returning it in this jacked up mess.

Hi! I did purchase the Nomad in I think the color is Cornflower Blue. It was the one with the dark ink stains and sticky stuff on the liner.
I tried 3 different methods for the ink: rubbing alcohol, hair spray, and nail polish remover. I found that the rubbing alcohol worked the best by lightening the stain but it removed some of the lining color.
I was able to remove the sticky stuff with nail polish remover but again it removed some of the color. Then I used 2 coats of Coach leather cleaner and moisturizer on the inside and outside of the bag. Overall I am pleased with with the results and when the liner is in the bag its not really noticeable.

In terms of care though, does it feel dry? Because looking at those pictures it looks like it hasn't aged a day. I would inspect it carefully before doing anything but it really doesn't look like it needs much. I have had good luck with Apple conditioner which has not significantly darkened my tan bags without feeling like it really needs to be worked in. So if you need to use something, I might go with that.

(But obviously test it somewhere less obvious first)

Thank you! I didn't ask because she knows that she could probably get more than $100.00. She probably would've said yes but I would've felt guilty asking for less.

Oh, that's terrible....doesn't look anything like the original mercari post. I would have fainted too. So glad you were able to get a refund. I don't mind the idea of working on damage when I'm expecting it, but wow "well loved and a few scrapes and scuffs" isn't accurate at all in this case. When you do use the puff paint or edge kote to repair damage do you put a conditioner over it to seal it in? I've been painting with acrylic paint mixed into conditioner to fix some worn spots on a black Helena's Legacy. I wasn't sure if more conditioner over those spots would work or undo what I've done.

I know....shoe polish?! Those instructions are pretty clear that nothing is needed to condition these bags...makes me wonder if that's why today some found are so very dry when they are discovered in resale or thrift shops...Folks were taking those instructions from Coach very seriously. : )
