Beautiful job! So the dye remover removes the original dye as well? I have a few bags that I went a little too wild with the paint and I need something to remove that, but I don't want to remove the original dye.

Here's a weird question for you: Someone asked today about a courier pouch that looked like it had a stiffener inserted into the tab. Is there something stuffed in there on yours?

What do ya know!

There is a very small ink stain which I can live with, but she does need a major bath and conditioning. What products do you recommend?

Pretty bag, I love Ergo!

Some of the ergo bags are made of vintage leather or vachetta leather which can be delicate; but you are right - it does look like it needs a bath so you may have to risk it! Does it say the type of leather on the creed patch inside the bag?

I've just used Soilove for the first time on a big ink splotch on a glove tanned bag. I was impressed, it really helped to reduce the ink without removing color from the bag, but I don't know how it would react to the leather of your ergo bag. You might get a bottle of soilove and spot-test it in a hidden area first.

What is the bag like on the inside, is the lining dirty or stained?

If it were my bag I would probably give it a sink bath in warm water with dawn or ivory. Use soilove to remove spots from the lining and to reduce/remove the ink marks on the leather. The rinse well, and stuff with towels to shape while drying for the first 24 hours. Remove the towels and let it continue drying. Use Leather CPR to condition.

Good luck!

It did not say which leather. I gave it a washing machine bath, in a laundry bag. I used woolite and a bit of gain laundry soap. I did this yesterday. It has been sitting on a towel stuffed. This afternoon I rubbed kiwi mink oil into it , and it's looking great! Once my black rocks comes in i'll do a coat of it. The purse will be kept by me so the small ink stains wont bother me to much, but i'll try the grandmas spot remover i have heard about!

New question - after a long time

Hi all - I haven't posted on here in a long time - I usually use the phone app but got really frustrated with it during its upgrade. Anyway...I picked up a light blue Waverly tote (style 4133) from a consignment store today. It's in really good shape, shiny brass hardware, even had the little Coach info booklet still tucked into the inner pocket, though I'm sure the bag has been used. It has a little corner wear and is really floppy - either was folded and stored for a long time or maybe really conditioned.

I contemplated doing a soak in the sink, but I suspect there is some kind of cardboard keeping the bottom flat. There is leather sewn down along the bottom for additional reinforcement.

Does anybody know if style 4133 has cardboard along the base? Thanks.

I don't know but I have several bags that have stiff bottoms that I have bathed with no problem. I'm pretty sure it is just an extra layer of leather. Katev bathed a Madison bag without a problem and I would have thought those bags had cardboard in them.

I am also very impressed with Soilove...it worked wonders on a tan suede bag that was really dirty, as well as taking ink out of the legacy lining on my rose legacy leather shoulder bag. It seems to be super-soapy, so if you use it, rinse really well. Just a shame I don't live in California where you can buy it at "Everything's a Dollar" stores :)

Yeah, I was in the 99 cent store buying it, thinking I could buy a bunch for everyone else but then I figured the shipping cost would raise it to Amazon's price anyway. It didn't work on any of my bags but it worked great on the lounge chair pad I have on my porch that my kitty had gotten super dirty.

We have the 99 cent stores, where everything is actually 99.9999 cents, Dollar Tree, Discount Dollar store and Family Dollar. These kinds of stores have really taken off around here. Sadly, my Tuesday Morning closed so I don't have anywhere to buy Leather CPR cheap.

I want to try Tuff Stuff but my Walmart doesn't have it.

Hope someone out there has some advice. I am working on a blue mini sig bag that has white leather on the bottom and handles. It was seriously filthy when I received it, both the jacquard and the leather I have soaked, scrubbed, tried the magic eraser and it is much cleaner and brighter. The only issue is there are scratches and areas where the white finish has worn off. Also, the edges on the handles need re-sealed, and it is navy blue. I have only been able to find black and brown sealer. Any suggestions or tips would be much appreciated!

Some people have used artist acrylic paint for edges. It is thicker than craft paint. For the white, you could use acrylic paint mixed with conditioner if there aren't large areas that need fixing. If it is a large area, you are better off using something made for leather, like Wood n stuff's Leather Refinisher.

Thanks a bunch! Not large areas, but lots of small areas. I think I even have both types of paint hanging around the house. I will look up the refinisher also.

That is super awesome! I love this style. I hope I find one to bid on and rehab too! I can't believe I'm so late for the party of vintage Coach! I love bags with a simplistic style to them and the vintage leather is to TDF! I've always been a person who is very arts-n-crafty so I enjoy the rehab part tremendously.

This bag is a beauty! You did a wonderful job and what a job this bag was! I love everything about this bag. Wonderful wonderful.:smile1:
