I just had to share this. I just started working on this Plaza Court. It wasn't a style that was on my radar but now that she is drying, I think she is adorable. She's smiling! She looks like a pregnant Court! She looks two-tone because she isn't dry yet. She is quite a bit bigger than her sister.

Very pretty...I've never seen one of these IRL!

Didn't need a ton of rehab (just leather conditioner and a little brassol) but here is my red Willis. The color is a very deep red that is slightly more like today's black cherry color than the photos portray. It even came with the original dark brown dust bag! View attachment 2223612

Beautiful red!

Finished up my burnt orange Legacy tote. I still don't know the official name of this, but Nekolassa had one and called Coach; they confirmed it was part of their Legacy line in the 70's. She is not in pristine condition, definitely looks vintage, but I love her!
I washed her, used Leather Therapy oil on her twice, then Blackrocks, Obenaufs and one last coat of blackrocks. I did a light shining of the brass, wanted a little vintage look to it as well.

Love the "vintage look"... and not-so-shiny brass. Well done!

I've had success using rubbing alcohol on pen marks. I put some on a cotton ball and rubbed over the mark right before putting it in the bath. I then immediately dunked the bag and went over it again with the cotton ball and rubbing alcohol while it was wet. I think it depends on the type of ink. I don't think gel ink will come out, but regular ink will. I've had some that came off very easily, but others that didn't want to come off at all. The leather may look a little lighter at first from the alcohol, but it should come back when you restore the bag.

Hi, so could this work even if I didn't notice any ink prior to the bath? I just bathed a vintage briefcase last night and it must have had a spot of ink that I did not see and I wake up to a nice surprise of what appears to be a watered down ink spot! I wish I would have taken a before pic; this case was in pretty bad condition; did not think of it until I had it in the tub. Of course it's right on the front of the case. Should I try the alcohol now?

Here's the offending spot. Which probably started out as a small dot.

Sorry about the pics; my camera phone sux and it's all I have right now.

As you see I have my work cut out for me with case, LOL. I'm new at this vintage rehab thing too but I've been reading this thread for weeks now. I have some more supplys coming this week; Leather CPR, Black Rock.

Me again. Ok so I tried etoh and it's working! It's coming out! I'm so happy. I will actually be using this case for myself. I've been using a cheap-o bag to carry my laptop to work and I've been wanting a nice leather one for quite awhile. This is a 1996 Coach Beekman #5266. Not sure what the color brown was called back then; brass hardware. It still has it's matching hangtag which is equally beat up looking, LOL. I like that the little chain link on the hang tag is brass and boy did that shine up nice! I'm using Wright's Brass Polish because that's what I had in my cleaning cupboard, LOL.
And I'm becoming very spoiled by Coach's older leather. I'd love to find a nice piece from the 80's or older.
Thanks for all the knowledge so freely shared here! I can't get enough of this thread now.
