Thank you katev an whateve! I might give her another bath. I was so focused the first time on cleaning out her disgusting interior and scraping verdigris that I didn't do anything to the bag itself. It was probably only in the water for twenty minutes. Plus, she still smells of damp basement and moth balls.

Wow, now that's a smoking deal, congratulations to the winner!

Hi Teastrong, I'm no expert, but when you dunk it again, try not to rub too hard, There was another poster here that used a plastic tip of some kind of cleaning product, I can't recall right now, and the marks on the bag afterwards were really bad. Light bags are not as forgiving, but when you put the blackrocks like Katev said, the color looks way better and more even.
Thank you. I'm running the bath now (cause I'm too lazy to do the dishes and use my sink) and I may just let it soak for a while and not really scrub it at all.

Hey ladies,

I got my red Court bag in the mail today! It's way more worn and dull than pictured, though... :( I'm a little afraid to dunk it because the red already looks a bit faded. Anyone have any thoughts?

P.S. I'm waiting for the dye on my red Metropolis with the stain to dry. Pics when it's dry! I've also been waiting like 3 weeks for replacement hangtags & turnlocks from Coach :(

I would go ahead and dunk her. Unless you think it wasn't as described and you want to return her. If she is already faded, I don't think she will lose any more color in the bath. Conditioning should help a bit and if all else fails, you already have the red dye.

I have a BT Stewardess on hold right now that is having issues similar to yours. I was scrubbing to get stains off it and now the areas where I scrubbed are lighter. My bag is in much worse shape than yours, there is some major ink on one side as well, so I'm going to gamble with mine a bit. I will redunk and probably scrub harder over the whole bag. It was almost like I scrubbed some kind of coating off it in areas. However, I do realize it is never going to have a nice, smooth finish. I will likely end up doing a coat of Leather Refinish over the whole thing because of the ink. Good luck!

Good points! I think I definitely want to keep her, I've been hunting for a red court for ages. But I'm pretty disappointed that a bag that went for $100+ turned out to be so worn...

Good news: the dye on this red Metropolis is dry. Bad news: the spot is still visible :sweatdrop: I guess I went too light on the application. I'm afraid I'm going to have to do the whole bag...
