Help, I rescued a sweet jaquard black on black, and she has a zipper issue. I've searched the thread with no success. It is nickel with heavy oxidation, in fact all the nickel is effected. The teeth are all in place, but it will not zip closed. The inside zipper works fine. I'll post pix ASAP. Before I move forward with anything on her I wanted opinions.

Sorry I've been gone for so long, life got me. Missed everyone, muah!
A quick google search revealed possible solutions of 1) WD40 or 2) CLR then clean with soap and water. Since I believe WD40 will leave an oil residue, I'd shy away from it, but I'd be willing to try CLR on the zipper with a little toothbrush scrub followed with your bath. I've personally never tried this but it sounds reasonable. I'm curious what other opinions may be.

I would try steel wool, maybe with some vinegar or wenol.

I've never worked on oxidation, but after you clean the zipper, take a piece of wax paper, and gently rub over both top and bottom of zipper track. it makes the zipper glide with no waxy residue.

How do you guys feel about this?

And this

Or any of there products on coach leather? I've seen this website mentioned on the forum before

Lovingmybags has been in business for quite awhile but I have never used any of their products or services so I can't offer an opinion.

I like Leather CPR, it does a great job, it doesn't have any odor, it is readily available, and you can usually get it at a good price!

Which ever conditioner you decide to use, be sure to also get the black rocks - it will really make that bag gleam!

Also you will need some brass/metal polish, like brasso or wenol.

Thank you, I'll talk to my mom about it

I have a question I'm confused about, after I use the leather CPR which I ordered, should I use another conditioner and then the Blackrocks? Thank you. You guys are so helpful

You only need leather cpr, but you may need to apply it a couple of times, if the bag feels dry. Let the leather rest for several hours or overnight between applications of Leather CPR and Black Rocks.

Alright, thank you, one more question, how long can I wait till I condition it? Cause If I bathe it today can I condition it on Sunday when I get home from vacation?

I have never bathed a bag and then left town so I can't advise you on that. I stuff it with towels to get the ideal shape and lay it on a towel and let it dry (turning occasionally) for 24 hours. Be sure and arrange the strap nicely while it is drying so it doesn't get a weird kink.

Then I remove the towels but maintain the shape and continue drying and turning occasionally. If the bag dries very quickly (especially the thinner areas like the straps) I will put an application of Leather CPR on it while it is still damp.

The drying time varies with the bag.

Okay, thank you. I think to be on the safe side I will wait till next week when I'm home again and I have the leather CPR
