I'm not familiar with the frye conditioner you used but I would start by making sure the bag is really well moisturized, we've mentioned a lot if different conditioners, apple, lexol, leather therapy. It could be that the Frye stuff is a good finishing coat but that top flap might still be a little dryer than the rest of the bag. I would moisturize over the frye stuff, it will probably still sink into the leather though it might break down the waterproofing qualities.

I'd be curious to know how the frye conditioner compares with black rocks. I would recommend black rocks to finish of the other moisturizers don't help even out the color but I'm curious about the frye stuff's properties.

Hey guys! I found a beautiful bag I want to rehab a little bit. She's a city bag that I got for $25 and she's in near perfect condition! I would love some advice on how to make her look her best!

Great bag! What color is it? In some of the pics she looks black and in others she looks greenish? If it is green then I am green with envy!

I have successfully rehabbed a number of unlined, vintage, glove-tanned bags. At the link below are the steps that I would take if this was my bag. They may seem a little scary at first but it's easy and fun, good luck!

She's actually a dark blue and thank you so much for all of your help, I really appreciate it!

What conditioner do you recommended? And what's blackrocks?

Leather CPR is a popular conditioner that is usually easy to find. You can see what it looks like at the link below, but it comes in smaller cheaper bottles and tubes too. You can often find it at Tuesday Morning, TJ Maxx, Walmart, and Bed Bath Beyond.

Black Rocks is a conditioner and sealer, it really finishes off the rehab and camouflages scuffs and fading. You can order it online (see link below, not my auction) or you can sometimes find it at horse-riding tack shops.

This may seem expensive, but a little goes a long way and you will be able to use these products on other leather goods, too.

Thank you so much, I'll look into them both

What a great bag (at a great price) for your first rehab! And KateV & Momtok's rehab guides are great resources! It IS a little scary to bathe your first bag, but the rewards are well worth the efforts...I'll bet she'll look brand new again! Can't wait to see your results. Good Luck, jump in and have fun! Welcome to rehab :)

Help, I rescued a sweet jaquard black on black, and she has a zipper issue. I've searched the thread with no success. It is nickel with heavy oxidation, in fact all the nickel is effected. The teeth are all in place, but it will not zip closed. The inside zipper works fine. I'll post pix ASAP. Before I move forward with anything on her I wanted opinions.

Sorry I've been gone for so long, life got me. Missed everyone, muah!
