Hi! This is my first attempt at rescuing an old Coach bag.
I found this bag yesterday at a little vintage shop in Queens, and was super excited to have it authenticated by Hyacinth as a genuine Pocket Bag from sometime between 1989-1991.
I dunked it yesterday in warm water and a bit of Dawn dish soap and left it for about 45 minutes. I then rinsed it, stuffed it with towels, and let it dry for about 24 hours. Once it was *almost* dry, I applied
Frye Weatherproof Dressing, which is what I use on my leather boots. I let it absorb the dressing for a few hours, and then buffed the excess with a clean, dry cloth.
The flap of the bag is much brighter than the bottom (which is a gorgeous cherry red color). The flap looks like it was faded from the sun.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can get the color of the flap of the bag to match the rest of it? Did I do something wrong?
Thanks in advance!
Erin
