I have a question for all the wonderful "rehabers" here! I'm watching a bag on the bay and it has some 'stretched' spots. You can see the 'wavy' leather on the front. Has anyone had any experience with that? If the leather is wet, do you think it might shrink back? Was thinking about dunking it and placing something heavy on the wavy spot. Thoughts??

I do lurk here...and love seeing everyone's projects. It truly is addictive ...:smile1:

I don't think it will shrink back if it is stretched out. If it is just wrinkled, placing a heavy item on the wavy spot might help. I do this with straps. A link to the auction so we can see what you are talking about would help.

Yes, that was I was afraid of. Here is the link:

Thank you for the input...

Hmm. I have never washed a lined Legacy bag but others have with good results. I don't think the stretching looks that bad. I think this leather sort of looked like that even when it was new. Since this leather is thinner than that on vintage bags, it might flatten out more easily. You might even be able to iron it under a press cloth. If it were me and I could get it cheap, I would be willing to take the risk. The first thing to do would be to try to clean the ink off the lining before you ever dunk.

I have been able to remove ink from the same fabric on another bag. The satin striped interior washed beautifully and the ink came out easily. Hoping to get it cheap...and try! Never did any leather ironing tho....

I wanted to post pics of the white Coach I found at a resale. I paid about a $1 for it and it turned out to be an original Coach from 69", 70's. It doesn't have the creed, just Coach embossed. After reading the rehab directions, it came out pretty nice. I just need to touch up the edge on one side with white and condition, but all in all in came out fine. Thanks for the info. This thread rocks!

Good job. If this color is like most white vintage bags, then the color linen in Folkart craft paint should be a good match.

I spilled a Manhattan cocktail on my Coach Ergo Zip, staining the leather a shiny darker brown. Any tips on getting bourbon out of Coach leather?

what kind of leather? How bad is the stain? I washed my Burnt Orange Ergo Hobo and it came out great, but pix would help us guide you. Also, the guideline with stuff like this is if you're going to never carry it again, then it's probably worth the risk.

We can answer better after seeing pictures, but I have a feeling that even if you can get the spot out, you will have a line in the leather if you don't get the entire bag wet.

I wouldn't pay a lot for it but if you can get a deal I would definitely try reshaping the leather. I have dunked a legacy bag and the lining was not an issue at all, but it was a lighter color. I might be a little concerned about the black fading onto the satin, it's a cool bag and I could probably live with it if it were me.

I suspect if you're willing to dunk it you won't have to iron it.

Hoping to have the opportunity...ie...get it for a good price...:smile1: Thank you for the encouragement! I really appreciate it :D

I can't get inspired to do any rehabbing. I cleaned up my rehab room during the holidays. Now I can't get motivated. I have several bags languishing in a pile.

I bought an equestrian bag from ebay that is in transit and I just got a message from Ebay's loss prevention department that the listing has been removed! I am pretty sure that it is authentic so I don't know why it was removed. The listing had a picture of the creed. Now I have to anxiously wait for it to get here so I can get it authenticated.
