My New Years Eve rehab for my coach bag, love how it came out, it's a keeper!

Gorgeous bag and nice job!

I am drying a bag that looks about just like this, but isn't the interior you describe. Beautiful bag! looks awesome. Mine was in good shape just needed a dunk and reshape.

I really lucked out on this one, don't think the person knew what they had exactly but one of the few did not have to get a bath, just a little fluff and buff. It is so buttery soft, I can't help but stare at it.:D

I usually only lurk in this thread because I'm terrible with any projects that include using my actual hands, but I think I ruined a bag and I don't know how to fix it.

My mom's parchment hobo had a huge black pen mark in the back, so I tried to remove it, first with apple cleaner, then rubbing alcohol and third a magic eraser. With the eraser the mark went off, but also some of the color in the bag. Leaving it like in the picture. I'm wondering if there's any way to restore the color, I thought about paint, but don't know which kind.

That's a tough one. I usually take the purse or its matching hang tag to a craft store and look at the acrylic paint selection to find a best match, and sometimes two other selections that are close so you can do some mixing and customizing.

Thanks!!! I'll try that, i have basic colors in acrylic paint so maybe i'll experiment mixing white with something to make it look like parchment. Hope it works, if not I guess it's still wearable since it's the back of the bag

Use very thin coats. I usually paint it on and then wipe it off with a paper towel. You can add more coats after it dries. Good luck!

I thrifted an "original Coach bag" from possibly the 70's. I am in the process of rehabbing. Thank you so much for the great information. I was nervous dunking it but so far so good.

awesome bag!! White is not an easy rehab to start with but the bag seems to be in overall nice condition.

if you don't get it to match that way, others have mentioned the color "linen" being a good match to some of the whiter bags in the American Folk line of paints I believe.

Bag give away!

That's right, I am still in the spirit of giving and I have a lightweight 80's soft satchel in the loveliest color brown that has been through the ringer. It was polished (not by me) and has it's issues. It does not have any ink, no smells and has been bathed by me.

I do not have the zeal to restore it and thought I would not simply let it sit and waste away. Well it will be sent to you free! As my gift to a TPFer who loves restoring bags! The first person to repsond to me with their address will be sent this lovely bag. I have pics and can send pics later but for now I thought, what a cool way to give back and have some fun!

Happy New Year!
