I've been wondering. . . since so many of you are rehabbing bags, do you carry the older style or vintage bags most of the time? Or do you carry mostly newer bags and use the vintage or older bags for special occasions? . . . . Or do you mostly carry newer bags and rehab just for enjoyment?
Hope you don't mind my asking, I'm just curious! :-)

I carry a mix of both old things I fix up that I love, and new stuff I love.

Beautiful job! The color is such a rich brown-one of my favorites.

I carry only vintage Coach now. I did dabble in some of the newer styles--they're very pretty. I just found that the leather wasn't as heavy and gorgeous as my vintage pieces. I also get satisfaction from the fact that after I rehab a piece that looks dry and awful it is beautiful again. I am also a sucker for the patina that the glove tanned leathers develop.

What a good question! I found a Patricia's Legacy British Tan at a garage sale for $15.00. I cleaned it up and carried it the next day. Met my two sisters for breakfast and one said to me, I used to have a bag like that! My other sister said, so its outdated. I said no, vintage bags are so in right now!! Anyway yes, I have alot of classic vintage Coach bags I carry and I dont think I am "outdated".

Thanks for sharing! The "old" leathers were amazing. I'm just beginning to understand the love of that transformation like "cocoon to butterfly" that I've seen so many of you do with these bags. My daughter and I used to laugh and make fun of at a designer that would "massage" his bags like a cat kneading a pillow when he was demonstrating them on a certain "home network." Well darn if I don't find myself doing that with these old wonderful glove tanned bags! Lol!!!!

Wow than was a great price on your Patricia! I think Coach is actually bringing back styles that resemble some of the old classics. I've seen some of them but I do like the olde styles much better. No question, vintage bags are in. Just try to find a cheap on eBay now - even some with holes. I'm like you, I also carry what I like. Thanks for sharing your opinion! :-)

I have been going to Garage Sales. The Saver's store has Coach but they have caught on and now they are $$$. Goodwill also $$$. I will have to try Craigslist!!!

It is getting really hard to find "bargains." I think the ladies in my state must hoard their vintage bags because I haven't even found an expensive one for sale! I'm stuck with ebay or as you said, Craig's list :-/

Savers (also called Value Village) often has sales and coupons and that can really help. I recently bought a black Patricia's Legacy there for $20. It had been marked $40 but I had a 50% off coupon.

My local Savers gives a 25% off discount to everyone on Mondays, and on Tuesdays anybody that is 55 or older receives a 25% off discount. They periodically run other discount promotions as well. Like they will stamp a card for every $5 purchase and when you fill the card you get 30% off. Apply for a Savers Card - no fee, just a membership card to receive information and special offers.

If you donate any number of items to Savers they will give you 2 coupons good for future purchases. One coupon is for $3 off on a purchase of at least $10 and the other coupon is for a percentage off on your entire order. The percentage varies, sometimes they give 25% or 30% or 20%. If I see some decent items around the house that I want to get rid of, I often put them in a bag and leave them in the trunk of my car so that I will qualify for a donation reward the next time I am at Savers.

I've only bought one bag off of Craigslist but it was a bargain and I have gotten lucky at several garage sales this summer.

The Salvation Army store offers 50% off on the "color" of the week and occasionally I have had the luck to find a great bag with the right color tag for that week. For example, I had previously passed on a black Rambler's Legacy at the SA that was marked $35 but later I saw that it was still there and got it for only $17.50.

If you join the Goodwill Club, they will occassionally email specials and will send you a discount coupon for your birthday month.

The bargains are getting harder to find but there are some options available!
