WISH LIST:

Who knows what else, I'm sure I'll find something else I "need" :roflmfao:

Wow! Thanks for reviving my favorite thread. I am only two rehabs into this but I like Cape Cod jewelry polishing cloths for brass and other hardware and ball chains.

...Now, if I can just get katev to try out the red so I can get her views on how that tricky color came out... :D

...Oooh, I'll help you hound her! C'mon Kate!! Get the red out!!

Oh dear! I will have to find that faded red collegiate bag, I'm sure it is at the bottom of my "rehab rejects" pile which is underneath my current "to be rehabed" pile!

I often think that I could buy some brand new bags with the money I've spent on vintage bags and rehab products, not to mention the time savings! But it's my hobby and I enjoy it!

I've been wondering. . . since so many of you are rehabbing bags, do you carry the older style or vintage bags most of the time? Or do you carry mostly newer bags and use the vintage or older bags for special occasions? . . . . Or do you mostly carry newer bags and rehab just for enjoyment?
Hope you don't mind my asking, I'm just curious! :-)

I like the older bags much better! I just bought a new Coach Duffle Tote in purple, it's my fav color and have never seen Coach offer it before. I ordered it from Nordstrom,t arrived, and is probably going back. The leather is flimsy compared to the old leather. No way it will be around 40 yrs from now. It's the first new Coach bag I've ordered in about 8 yrs, they started making alot of junk ( in my eyes ) I just like the classics I guess.

I mostly carry my newer bags and use the rehabs occasionally. I have also given quite a few of them as gifts to relatives and friends and I see some of them being used often.

There are exceptions, a few of my thrift store finds are carried frequently because I really love them, and every day my husband carries the Sonoma wallet and Lexington briefcase that I rehabbed for him.

Thank you for your thoughts chowlover2. The older bags are made so well and the leather is better leather too. I have a couple newer bags that I do love, a large Zoe and Maggie. But I'm finding I love and am really using a Devon bag I just got and rehabbed. It's such a perfect size for running to the grocery or shorter trips. I don't put my expensive bags in the cart because I don't want them scratched or dirty. Guess I have them too loaded up to comfortably carry on my shoulder. I'm sure liking the older bags and the lighter weight! :-)

I find myself carrying my rehabs more often. They're classic, functional and comfortable to carry. And they always draw comments - people are amazed when they hear how old they are but still look amazing. My poor Chloe Paraty (my ultimate HG bag I purchased earlier this year) is feeling horribly neglected lately!

Thanks for sharing how you use your rehabbed bags katev. You have a lucky husband! :-) That is a good idea to gift the rehabs you don't use as often. I gave my daughter some of my older bags, they weren't rehabbed. Actually it was before I began reading this forum! She loves the older bags. So she will be thrilled to bebefit from my new (and somewhat costly hobby!). I also carry my newer bags for trips, church and expensive restaurants but I do like one smaller vintage one (Devon bag) for everyday. (And it's washable! Lol!)

Thanks for your input eehlers. The vintage bags certainly are unique and beautiful. Dh has been complaining because the table I usually park my bag on at home now had three sizes! I transfer the necessary things from bag to bag depending on where I'm going. I've been reaching for the classic more often than the new ones.

I've been meaning to show before and after pictures of my Devon bag that Hyacinth was so kind to authenticate for me. I really didn't have to do much but touch up the edge of the strap and the bottom corners and polish the hardware. It was kinda flat so the bath and really helped.
