I would think that the coconut smell would be unpleasant. Have you tried refined filtered emu oil?

ooohhh, right! i think coconut oil will smell unpleasant too on leather. why didn't i think about that? yes katev, i already asked my sister to send me filtered emu oil and it will arrive this december/january. as for the moment, i'm looking for other substitute leather conditioners aside from apple and lexol. thanks for all the advice and input katev. blessings.

Congratulations on your Lafayette!

Here are my photos. I haven't had time to work on the re-take of the creed, so I will wait to post to authenticate. With all the good suggestions, I may be able to get a proper shot of this.

I think this is a Lafayette Tote, but I'm not really sure. Could you link your post in the second hand bargain thread for me? I've not explored that thread yet. I'm still working on reading through the rehab thread...and my fulltime job and chores, etc. :smile1:

I bought her at a vintage flea market several years ago, because of the simple shape and nice feel of the leather...in spite of being dry. She is very dry and will be my first rehab project. Otherwise, there is no damage that I can see. I'm gathering supplies now.

Here's the thread, post # 1124. If it's a new enough bag, the inside style # on the creed patch should #4140 if my memory is right.

That rehab thread is so daunting LOL.... unfortunately we get on rabbit trails in that thread, but over all it's a GREAT resource for how to rehab, and what NOT to do sometimes ...learned the hard way

Yep that looks like the Lafayette. She's in great shape too. Congrats!!

I just received a city bag from the bay. She is gorgeous, shiny, seems well conditioned. Faint non offensive odor inside but it's ok. Should I dunk her? I feel oddly compelled to lol and I don't know why. What do you all do?
