I won my first Italian Madison bag! Wasn't cheap, but I think she was worth it compared to what she sold for originally. She appears to be in good shape, but you never know til you get her. Here's the link
congratulations! I am getting an Italian Madison Sutton from ebay too! It is supposed to be new, never used, but it is missing the shoulder strap. I hope it is in good condition.

Thanks Jessi for the encouragement. I'll keep trying different combinations and see what I can make happen. I will also try different items to try and bring out the verbiage on the creed. I will post photos of the Lafayette Tote later on this evening.

I just found a Lafayette Tote ( posted her in the second hand bargain thread) !! I have had several bags that were a nightmare to get the photo to work on. I have a higher end digital point and shoot and have had to do TONS of experimentation in different lighting to sometimes get it right, and using a pale eye shadow color, etc... I hope you get it fig'd out. I'd love to see photos of your bags here even if you can't get the creed!

Congratulations on your Lafayette!

Here are my photos. I haven't had time to work on the re-take of the creed, so I will wait to post to authenticate. With all the good suggestions, I may be able to get a proper shot of this.

I think this is a Lafayette Tote, but I'm not really sure. Could you link your post in the second hand bargain thread for me? I've not explored that thread yet. I'm still working on reading through the rehab thread...and my fulltime job and chores, etc. :smile1:

I bought her at a vintage flea market several years ago, because of the simple shape and nice feel of the leather...in spite of being dry. She is very dry and will be my first rehab project. Otherwise, there is no damage that I can see. I'm gathering supplies now.

Thank you, Whateve. I appreciate your feedback.

These both have the creed on a pocket that I can pull out of the bag. I tried using BE mineral veil, because that was the lightest powder I own. No success yet. Maybe I will have some other ideas. Perhaps I should purchase some *very* inexpensive white talc to get better contrast. I'm getting a sheen when I take a photo whether or not I use the flash.

I'm fairly sure these are authentic, but would love to know for sure.

I find brushing light-colored eyeshadow on the creed can be helpful.

Here we go, Olive Green Legacy Small Zip 9997.
I got it all done and I'll give it to my neighbor/friend when she gets home from work this evening.
It was a pretty simple rehab 'cos it was in good shape--only flattened with a few minor scuffs.
Just washed, shaped, polished hardware & conditioned/blackrock'd. The before/afters are kinda a let-down on ones like these! There's one TINY white stain you can see that was on the bottom front corner, at least I got to get that out LOL

Gorgeous, I know she will love it!

Hello everyone,

I've been working on my Italian travel gramercy bag. After washing it with Ivory soap, the red polish came right off...as did what I suspect to be shoe polish (there was dark blue stuff coming off on the wash cloth).
I have since applied several layers of Leather Therapy oil to try and recondition the leather, but it doesn't seem to be helping much. The leather soaks it up and it looks so very dry. I'm thinking I may need something stronger. Any suggestions?

I haven't attempted to tackle the ink stains inside on the suede. But, I bought some acetone and a metal nail file for when I feel up to that challenge.

I will keep you all posted. And if you have any suggestions for what I can try on the leather to bring it back to life, please let me know.

Cheers! :smile1:

I haven't tried this on an italian leather bag, but when I have a really dry bag that soaks up the conditioner but still feels dry to the touch. I apply 100% pure, refined, filtered emu oil and it gives the leather some intensive care.

I think this creed photo is clear enough to authenticate.
