I'll probably try this first. There is a ton of ink marks on the inside, like someone just decided to carry a pen without a cap for an extended period of time. Since it is on the suede, I can't just cover it up with paint.

Thank you. It still has the paper sticker on the inside that denotes the model number so I don't think I want to destroy that.

Could you take an old toothbrush and try scrubbing the ink marks?

Well, my co-worker/pod mate is expecting his 4th and last baby. His wife has hard pregnancies with morning sickness all 9 months and required bed rest. She's had to take weekly shots to prevent premature labor and their previous baby was in NICU. Needless to say, he thinks she deserves a treat and he's noticed my rotating Coach bags on my desk. His wife only has Miche, which I had never heard of before he told me. They are bag covers for one bag to switch out your look. He knows I sell my purses on eBay to buy new ones and he asked if he could buy one from me. I was hesitant, so I offered to find one in the color he wanted (brown) in the price range he felt comfortable with, clean it up for him, and if he didn't want it I would resell it. I bought this strapless Zoe for $9.99. I didn't take before pics, but it arrived with a dead roach in it and had the pull on the zipper tied to a different part of the purse caked with yellow paint. There was not much rehab required, but I naively thought I could easily get a replacement strap. I searched high and low for one. I went to thrift shops and checked out the bags there. Nope. I called Coach. Nope. I went to Coach. They had spare straps, but none this deep brown color. I was so leery about getting one off the bay, but I took a chance on valuebeltsplus versus silver-coach because I needed a shorter, thicker strap. I should have bought a thicker one than the one I got, but I think it still works. I only hope it doesn't bite into her shoulder when she carries it. She's a tall lady and likes brown, so I hope this works for her.

Last year I bought a few Dooneys (that I still haven't rehabbed!) and I asked "dreaming of beautiful dooneys" on the ebay forum for AWL rehab advice; this is what she told me:

"Mild soap and water, after you wipe down your bags wipe it again with just water then dry with a clean cloth. DB says not to use leather conditioner or leather oil but I do! I rub my bags very lightly, after all if you dont condition leather it will dry out and crack. The leather used on DB bags is very strong and the only leather I have that has some mild cracks is the original bridle leather bags from the first line of hand bags."

It sounds like surface cleaning and then conditioning with something like lexol, leather restorer therapy, or emu oil might be the best route to take.

Whew! My instincts were right - I wasn't fully comfortable with the idea of dunking (afraid I'll lose the registration # sticker). I'm planning on surface cleaning my Equestrian Flap with Lexol Wipes followed with Leather Therapy Restorer. I may try BlackRocks on the tan trim were there are some scuff marks.

I have a badly abused tan Soho Fletcher that not only has numerous small ink marks inside and out, it looks lile a pen exploded in the bottom. If I soak this, is the ink likely to discolor the entire bag? Any thoughts?

Pictures of the bag here:

Here's a picture of the interior horror show - any hope?
Don't dunk until you attempt to clean up the ink. I dunked a bag with ink inside and it bled through to the outside.

Great job! The dead roach thing made me cringe a bit :D

Exactly what I was afraid of! I'm thinking of turning it inside out and trying some rubbing alcohol.

This bag is a real "try it and see" project. The leather is very soft and nice - If I can't save it I will cover it up with fur and beading and give it to a freind who would love that sort of funky treatment and could care less for original condition/labels/etc.

Beautiful! How did you camouflage the stains? I have a red bag that needs serious help.

I'm not sure how I got so lucky lol
I soaked her for about 2 hours in warm water and light soap, scrubbed the stains until they were out and I like to use Apple Care Cleaner when the bag is still a bit wet cause I feel I have more room for error that way.
I conditioned with Apple first and let her dry 2 days. The drying process was the scariest because the flaws showed so much when she was wet!!!
The fading on the front and stains were VERY noticeable after she was clean so i actually used BlackRock on her. 2 coats well polished.
Some here don't like BlackRock on such vibrant colors but I really liked it and I am very happy with the result.
BlackRock can darken the color of your bag so use with caution...to each his own :)
Good luck with your red! They are such beautiful bags!!!

Thank you. I have already tried Blackrock on mine and it isn't camouflaging the marks very well. I think I am going to have to mix some paint in with the conditioner. I think the Blackrock does tend to darken at first but once it soaks in, the color lightens back up.
