OMG, it looks fabulous, great job! Black rocks is hard to get used to, and I still have a tendency to overdo it, but it does a great job - and washing the bag also does great things for it!

The older Coach bags had unique serial numbers and some of the early ones have the number glued inside the bag. You've got a real gem there and an unusual color, too!

I AGREEE! I have to get use to this product

Now that eehlers has done such a fabulous job on rehabbing her pigpen station bag, I want to nominate another bag for the "most awful, disgusting pigpen bag" award!

I picked up a black Legacy Leather Hobo 9058, made in the USA in 2001, at the Salvation Army store the other day for $10. It was originally priced at $20 but didn't sell (no surprise!) and so it was marked down to $10.

I don't know if I will be able to rehab it successfully, but at that price I figured I could always reuse the strap, hardware, and hangtag if it doesn't work out. Plus it's hard to find older style bags in a larger size.

Just take a look at all the crap that was left inside this bag!!!!!

Don't you think that the original owner could at least have held the bag upside down over the wastebasket before chucking it into the "donation pile"?!

Whenever someone is surprised to hear that I recommend washing leather bags I think "Yeah sure, but a lot of them are absolutely disgusting and I want to make sure that they are clean before I put my stuff into them and carry them!"

You can find more pics of Little Miss Pigpen Legacy Hobo at the AT link below. She really needs help!

Eeeuggghhh!! At least my Pigpen Station was just plain old dirty and didn't have all that kind of cr@p in it! WTH? I thought my Navy City was bad with the wads of hair and Trident wrappers that are in the pockets, but that's nothing in comparison. CforC is right...plain lazy AND nasty.

I tried "painting" my bag today. I think it turned out okay but I'm going to do another coat after this one dries.

I don't think I'm going to get it perfect and to the point where there is no mark at all, however I think I can hide it enough that no one will know! The bit of paint I used and the conditioner really "took the edge off". I actually put a drop of paint on the bag then some conditioner and rubbed it in, then buffed it off with a towel. I think with one more coat it'll look even better, and I'll decide then what I'm going to do. The paint/conditioner made the stitching on the bag really white so I might have to go over and even all that out. I'm almost out of conditioner so I might just skip that step for awhile because it'll probably wear off anyway. I can't wait to use this bag! I have to go to church for my grandparents 60th wedding anniversary and I plan on carrying it then. I have a week!

Why would they leave all that crap inside? I once bought a "new without tags" purse on Ebay that had feminine products in the pocket.

That crap was in the bag when you bought it? Salvation Army didn't dump it?

I'm now looking for bags on ebay that I can rehab for my boyfriend's mom. I think I can find one that is similar to the style she likes.

I know! Really, how hard is it to dump the crap in the wastebasket?! Lazy is right!

I thought of dumping it into the trash can outside the SA store, but I decided to bring it home and take a picture so that you could all share my dismay and disgust.

Pigpen indeed! That was once a beautiful and expensive bag - so why would anyone treat it like that? :nono:

I would have taken a pic then dumped it..LOL

I bought a new bag once (from the store) that had stuff inside. Obviously it was returned.

I loan my bags to my mom a lot and sometimes I forget to take the feminine stuff out of the pockets! It's weird to buy one that is NWT

Once when I was at Macy's I asked to look at a Coach Parker bag and then I told the SA that the "bag was used" and she looked very offended and said "why would say that?!" and I said "because the original owner left stuff inside!" She was mortified.

Oh my. Perhaps that's some new amenity that purse designers are providing - you know, instead of a pocket mirror or key fob. :P
