Hubby said I looked like I took the pic in the corner of the shower! Actually it is the kitchen counter for just an FYI ;)

Bag twins, I have a BT scooter too and it's a great little bag! Nice job on the rehab, she looks brand new!

These pictures show my Basic Bag which I bought new from Neiman Marcus in 1983 or 1984. My husband was in grad school and had a parttime job there (and got a big discount!).

The first picture is the "after" which shows how shiny it is. The second picture shows the model number which is a glued on piece of leather. I bought this bag new so I know it is authentic and yet has that weird model number. The third picture show the "before". You can see how faded and scratched it was. Last Friday I was worried because after applying Black Rocks (after washing it in Ivory liquid, and three coats of Lexol) it was quite tacky, but now it's not at all, and has a great shine. It just needed a couple of days to soak in. It's so beautiful that I think I'll start using it again!

Thanks to all for your help and showing me what I thought was crazy or impossible was actually a good idea. Really, who ever heard of washing a leather purse!

BTW, the color was originally called Tobacco. I always thought it was funny because I don't smoke...

Absolutely gorgeous, great job!

I am working on a black Janice's legacy right now that I got for $2.50, but it isn't looking too good. I think I will have to dye it.

Nice work, isn't rehabbing a lot easier than you thought it would be?

THANKS so much for all your help!!!!
Yes, easier than I thought
I am still learning as I go but it is FUN
Nothing like a GOOD CLASSIC Coach.
The New Legacy has NOTHING on the OLD Legacy

Not sure if y'all remember the Pigpen Station Bag I picked ...I'll keep you posted if I can pull off an extreme makeover with this little chocolate brown lass!!

Now that eehlers has done such a fabulous job on rehabbing her pigpen station bag, I want to nominate another bag for the "most awful, disgusting pigpen bag" award!

I picked up a black Legacy Leather Hobo 9058, made in the USA in 2001, at the Salvation Army store the other day for $10. It was originally priced at $20 but didn't sell (no surprise!) and so it was marked down to $10.

I don't know if I will be able to rehab it successfully, but at that price I figured I could always reuse the strap, hardware, and hangtag if it doesn't work out. Plus it's hard to find older style bags in a larger size.

Just take a look at all the crap that was left inside this bag!!!!!

Don't you think that the original owner could at least have held the bag upside down over the wastebasket before chucking it into the "donation pile"?!

Whenever someone is surprised to hear that I recommend washing leather bags I think "Yeah sure, but a lot of them are absolutely disgusting and I want to make sure that they are clean before I put my stuff into them and carry them!"

You can find more pics of Little Miss Pigpen Legacy Hobo at the AT link below. She really needs help!

OMG, it looks fabulous, great job! Black rocks is hard to get used to, and I still have a tendency to overdo it, but it does a great job - and washing the bag also does great things for it!

The older Coach bags had unique serial numbers and some of the early ones have the number glued inside the bag. You've got a real gem there and an unusual color, too!
