The pond vintage satchel that I own is regular leather, not nubuc. Coach made this style in both. I think the blue and tan versions are nubuc but the other colors are leather.

OK, that clarifies my confusion then. I was going to ask you if this was the same leather, actually-because the one I had didn't seem that delicate.

I've also thought about diluting apple or leather cpr to spray on and condition a suede bag but that would be another one of my experiments to do on an inexpensive bag. The tough part about this satchel is it was a great price on a potentially expensive bag so it's tough to just experiment on. I think any time you have a light color on a leather bag you risk the "brown" coming through. I would still chance it on a dirty bag though.

I know I've had lots of nubuck boots so I'm familiar with it, and I would still condition it if it was needed...just not if it only "sort of" needed it.

Just gave a brown Jancie Legacy a bath...she drying
I did take before pics and will post once she all pretty

She was really not bad - I think a coat of Leather CPR will do the trick

Yes ADDICTING!!!

Can't wait to see - Janice Legacy is a classic! And...awesome price!

That's a beautiful bag, I have the KPS in black patent and I love it!

Your bag may just need gentle conditioning and cleaning to darken the worn areas. It would be helpful if you could post pics but it doesn't sound like you need to dye the bag - that is only necessary in extreme situations.

Sometimes you need to do a little acrylic paint touch-up on worn areas, but I doubt if that is necessary for such a new bag. Take a look at the amethyst bridget at the link below. The piping was faded but ledobe use blackrocks conditioner on one side and you can really see the difference!

Thanks Katev and Whateve! I did this and the Kristen literally looks brand new. The discoloration is no longer visible at all. I also tried that Blackrocks on a camel Sabrina I was given that has a lot of corner wear and grey on the corners. It didn't come out as well as the Kristen, though it's still greatly improved. I need to think about paint or dye for that one. Rehabbing isn't as scary as I thought!

I found a 2000 black Mercer lunch tote at Goodwill for $13 last week. In wonderful condition except for a very strong perfume odor. It looks like the previous owner may have spilled perfume. I've taken a wet washcloth and blotted as much of the stain out as I can (using Woolite). However, I'm very nervous to dunk her as the leather is very soft and supple, the body (twill) is very stiff, and I've never dunked a lined bag before. The bag is mostly twill with a leather bottom, side trim, and handles. Anyone have experience rehabbing one of these bags? Thanks for any advice!

ETA: Ok, I searched and saw katev's Mercer rehab here: http://forum.purseblog.com/coach/coach-rehab-and-rescue-club-624452-179.html#post21797266. Any words of wisdom still welcome, though!

I am nervous about dunking twill bags myself but I have read that the black ones usually come out very well.

I once rehabbed a leather bag that smelled strongly of perfume or incense and dunking it was the only way that I was able to eliminate the smell (and the bag came out great, too!) Good luck!

No it's not, but it is addicting! Enjoy! :graucho:

Yeah, the red twill with black leather trim I washed had some dye staining issues. Maybe take it old school upholstery cleaning method with soap bubbles and spot cleaning.

I've become a big fan of easy, convenient wipes for quickly maintaining my bags and getting them ready for storage. I started doing this after I took my mahagony XL ergo pleated hobo out for the fall season.

The bag looked fine when I stuffed it and put it in the dustbag the previous spring, but the next time I saw it, there were dirty marks, finger prints and other flaws visible. I was able to clean her up and make her look pretty again but it made me aware of the importance of cleaning, conditioning, and shining before storage.

The trouble is, I'm not always willing to drag out the cleaning, conditioning, and polishing supplies when I am switching bags. Now for most bags I use Lexol cleaning wipes, Lexol conditioning wipes, and Goddard's jewelry wipes to clean, condition, and shine. After treatment, I let the bag dry overnight and then stuff and bag it for storage.

I keep the stuffing in the dustbag for the bag I am currently carrying so I don't have to hunt around for packing materials.

I usually just wipe patent bags with a soft cloth and water and use the Goddard's wipes on the hardware.

Good luck!

Thanks! I'm sure I'll be in touch...I know no one who is a Coach lover wants to hear this, but one of my bags has to be the 'guinea pig' for my efforts so I am going to go with the cream Soho...please root for me!

I have this bag in Camel! I love it. Such a cute little bag and super comfy to carry. Good luck with the rehab - I'll be pulling for you!

I was at an amusement park all day and because I'm pregnant and can't ride rides, all I could think about was my bag. I couldn't wait to get home and the first thing I did was check it over since I conditioned it about 24 hours ago. The conditioner felt sticky but now it doesn't so the conditioner just needed to dry.

Tomorrow I'm going to the craft store to look at some paint and see if I can match the color. I'd like to get the scuffs out completely but I will be happy if they aren't as noticeable. It's the most I want to do because I don't want to ruin the bag.

I love it and can't wait to carry it! I want one in every color..LOL

PS-I can't wait to find another bag to rehab! It's amazing what people will take for bags they just want to "get rid of". My $1 bag was me almost pulling a fast one (I don't think the lady knew what I had in my hand) but oh well..LOL
