Great job, the court bags are so nice!

Thanks! I even ordered a replacement tag for her. It isn't as good as the original but it passes ;)
The woman in customer service was not the sweetest thing when I called (nearest coach store is 2+ hours away)
I told her "how many will you send at once? I have a large collection" she says "oh like 4 or 5?" I respond "no, like over 30, but only 19 or so are super old and missing tags" hahahahaha she said they will only send 5 every 6 months and because I was asking for so many she had me read her all the #'s to make sure they were
Genuine. I just laughed cause she can't possibly look up authenticity of vintage bags on her computer by the numbers ahh gotta love the Coach SAs :D

You can always try bathing it again, what gave its pearlescent finish?

I gave the tag the pearlescent finish :smile1: I was thinking about applying conditioner with a drop of pearlescent acrylic in case the bag ended up looking chalky with all the touch ups. But good news, I went back and scrubbed and cleaned the tag and it actually came off and now matches the bag! I reattached the hangtag and it looks good on the bag. Since I have a "few" other hangtags I need to get from JAX, this works well.

I bought a Tossed Lace Lindsey in Parchment at an outlet today, and didn't notice a small cut in the handle until after I had gotten home. Is there anything I can do to repair this? I'm primarily worried that the cut would look worse or get larger as I use the bag. Secondarily, is there anything cosmetically I can do?

Since I still have the tag on the bag, would it be best to return it and hope for a better one? My concern is that the outlets near me don't have any others currently. The rest of the bag is perfect.

Thanks in advance for any help you might be able to provide!

So I just thought to post pics of my pink suede soho before I dare dunk it...sorta nervous about this one.

So, the color of the lining does not make me as nervous as the dark red leather trim....any thoughts ladies?

Didn't one of the large detergent manufacturers come out with a sheet you throw in the washer that catches any running red dye so it doesn't redeposit on the clothing? I remember seeing it on tv, that might work...

What a shame! I suppose the wisest thing to do is return it, or bring it back and ask for an additional discount.

It's a beautiful bag (and it's only a tiny flaw) so if you can't get a replacement and you want to keep it then you may be able to stablize and camouflage the cut.

Keep in mind that I usually work on inexpensive vintage bags and I have never tried to rehab a white, costly new bag. These are just my ideas of what I might try if it were my bag.

First I would take it to a cobbler and ask if he could do a professional repair that will hide the cut. If you are able to get an extra "as is" discount from the outlet then it may cover the cost of repairs. I might call the boutique store first because they can often suggest a skilled leather worker to repair the bag.

If I wanted to fix it myself, I would start by applying a small amount of leather-safe fabric glue to the area.

Then I'd take the hangtag to a hobby or fabric store and buy a small bottle of acryllic paint that is a close match and an artist's paintbrush to touch up the area to hide the cut.

Just a few ideas, perhaps some other TPFers will have addtional suggestions, good luck!

Don't attempt any repair! First, I would call the outlet, and see if they have more in stock, then run down and exchange. Second, if you can't go back, call customer service. This past spring my BFF bought a bag at an outlet store, got it home, and on the strap the grommet wasn't right, it was cockeyed. Anyway, we live 90 min from outlet, so she called customer service and told the her problem. She sent the bag back, they waived the $20 shpg fee and sent her a brand new bag from the factory. So definitely call customer service.

Wanted to share a step in the process. While my Pocket Purse and Station Bag continue to dry ( yes, I'm an overachiever...my first rehab is not one, but TWO bags), I started working on the strap of the Pocket Purse. The Station Bag was missing a strap, so I figure I can share this strap with both bags.

After a coat of conditioner, I went to work on the brass with Wright's Brass Polish. Holy Schnikees! What a difference!

I'm having so much fun. I think I found a new hobby!!

I live 90 minutes from 3 outlets. WHen I was there yesterday, I got the two "best" ones they had. I'll call this morning to check if they have more- it can't hurt to try. I also have one other outlet to call when they open. The third is sold out. If none of the three have them, I'll call customer service. It sounds like it could be a good option. If I wasn't dying to use this purse, I guess I could wait for the outlets to restock, but this is officially my favorite purse!

Amazing difference, and yes, you are now officially hooked!

I use Wrights also. I like it better than Brasso. These are looking great!! (but I confess, polishing the brass is my least favorite thing to do)

I wouldn't mind polishing brass so much if I didn't always get the Brasso on the leather. My Brasso is almost gone-not sure where it came from, just found it in the garage. How does Wrights compare? Why do you like it better?

ETA: OK, I would still mind it if I didn't get Brasso on the leather, I would just mind it less.

Now that it's been authenticated...here's another project...it's a Bonnie Casin for Meyers bag I found for $15. It's in great shape and no funky smells, so I'll probably just surface clean this one and polish up the hardware rather than the full on bath. There are a number of pen marks inside, but eh...no biggie to me. Isn't she cute??
