Thank you for the tip!! I will probably take it in and see how much it will cost to replace the straps in the first place. If its too expensive I might just replace the darn things myself!!

It should be easier to match on a black bag than some of the other colors. Another tip that is probably obvious to everyone but me-I almost snipped off the old straps before I started working on mine, but, DUH, it's so much easier to work on a bag you can hang up-I waited till I was finished.

I think it will rehab beautifully, nice choice!

I recently rehabbed a compact pouch that was in much worse shape than your bag and it came out great. You can see the before and after pics at the links below. Good luck!

Wow. Yours turned out perfect. I hope it ends up half as good as yours.

If you mean the $350 red one - it was a fake. I didn't see any others? Can't believe I missed it, although my credit card will be pleased!

I saw the discussion about the fake one, this was different, and darned if I can find that listing again! It was in my "watch" list for awhile and I recently cleaned it up and it's not there any more.

It could have been Cashin for Meyers, but if I remember correctly it was a similar unused Cashin bag with the cards and tags that came with. I searched completed listings and everything but since I can't remember how I found it, it's not coming up.

Can't remember how much it was either, must have been more than $9.99 or I would have snagged it myself. :)

Here is the link for the prototype lot and I remember the one with the cards also, it was not Coach; I will look for it too.

Hey everyone so I scored this little bag on Ebay for $30. It was authenticated by DemRam as a late 70s Swinger Bag. As you can see the previous owner CUT the handles and tied them together. Sad day  I think I'm going to take it to a leather smith and have them completely replaced.

My questions to the experts would be should I rehab it first before I replace the handles or after? I can't decide! Help!!

I think I would take this to Coach to see if they can replace the straps first. I don't know if they do that, but it looks like a simple enough repair, and if anyone would have the right materials it would be them.

I need some advice. I got this cute little shoulder bag with the attached inside kisslock coin purse. It appears to be two-tone, but I am not sure. I think the trim is going to need some touching up, and I don't know if I should try to match the main color of the bag or keep it two-tone. Hyacinth doesn't know if they made this bag in a spectator version. I'm almost convinced that it is two-tone because even the trim on the inside where it wouldn't have been exposed to fading is a different color. This bag has already been bathed but not conditioned.

I have a question about using acrylic paint to rehab a white leather bag. I recently picked up a white legacy zip at a garage sale for $8 and Hyacinth has authenticated the bag. The bag was in good shape and the inside is very clean. I gave it a bath and it brightened it up but it still has a dingy look to it and some scuffed areas. I could try washing it again but I'm not sure that would make much difference.

I am thinking of trying the approach, used successfully by other rehabbers, of mixing the leather cpr and acrylic paint and rubbing the mix into the surface of the bag. I have a few questions for those that have used this technique, please take a look at AT pics at the link below and let me know what you think, thanks!

- Do you think that this bag is a good candidate for the conditioner and paint mix?
- Should I polish the hardware first or wait until after I condition/paint the bag?
- About how much paint do you add to the conditioners?
- Do you recommend any specific brand/shade of white paint? I have a bottle of acrylic white paint but it is a bright white; is it better to get something a little less glossy and more chalky?
- How do you apply the mixture, with your fingers?
- After it dries do you apply another application of plain conditioner?
- Do you have any other advice or tips for working with the mixture?

Thanks in advance!
