What a happy day...I've been such a good girl so far this year, Santa came early! You may remember I asked for a Dremel for Christmas!

Check out what I found at a local thrift store for $2.99! And it works! And I can use it to brush and buff leather and even has an extra cover for the buffer so I can clean hardware too! (I think the brushes are nylon, not sure if I'll use them or figure out a way to convert them to buffers too.) Anyway, it'll get used.

Oh yeah...and I found a barely used can of Brasso at an estate sale and a cute little Coach wristlet at Goodwill for $3.99 (I just posted it on the AT thread)!

Sometimes simple things just make me happy...It's a good day!
This is super cool!! Im so jealous ;) I will be on the lookout for one at my local thrift stores now. Sounds like you're already putting the thing to good use and surely getting your moneys worth! :D

I remember my father had a shoe polisher like that. I wonder what happened to it. I think I would have just walked right by it in the thrift store without thinking about the possibilities. Now I'll have to go looking for one!

what a great idea! Surely in all my shopping forays, I can FIND ONE OF THESE!! I didn't even know such a thing existed.
Thats what I said to myself!! I'm going to keep my eyes peeled for one of these bad boys!! I've never thought of looking for one!:D

When I bought the Presto Power Polisher the lady in the thrift store thought it was kinda odd...cause I was wearing flip flops...LOL!

Thanks everyone for your comments...better living through power tools!

Docride in the Hermes thread said, 2 coats of Blackrock ( 3 hr dry time between ) 2 coats of Obenauf's and a final coat of Blackrocks when you finish bag. That will waterproof the bag.

No thanks, I've gotten used to being called "Hyacinth". :D

And I still can't find that drawstring bag! It may have been a style that just made it into one or two catalogs that aren't in my library. It looks like it's from the Lightweight line but that's the best I can do. :confused1:

Hyacinth comes through again with my marshmallow spot bag:

Hurray! FINALLY found this one!

The name's going to be a disappointment though, Coach didn't use much imagination for this one. But DemRam had it right all along.

Shoulder Bag from the Lightweight line, style 4050, probably from 1988.

Since I'm wishing for a purple Willis, I would like this to be 50 cent Court bag (NMA)

http://www.ebay.com/itm/32086936713...AX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649#ht_7563wt_974

So, funny thing happened when I was reading Regretsy. I clicked on a link, and then clicked on a link, and before I knew it, I was here. It wasn't 50 cents, it was $26:

https://www.etsy.com/transaction/83619438

When I got the bag, it looked brand new. No sign that it had ever been carried, the leather looked very fresh, the handle on the top was shiny and white...except...the spots shown in the pix. In fact the only thing that convinced me the bag had ever been carried was the little mirror in the inside pocket.

It has a slight "old lady perfume" odor and it is a little flat from storage, but not squished, the piping is in shape but the bag is a little curved in.

The spots looked like they would rub off with your finger, they were on the surface and had not penetrated the leather. However, no such luck. I took a little rubbing alcohol, crossed my fingers, and dabbed it with a cotton ball. Success! I can't see any color loss at all either.

So, you may have noticed she is missing her strap. The funny thing is, my lil marshmallow lightweight bag, and my new Camel Patricia, are a perfect match. The Patricia of course has big buckles and won't work. The lightweight has the perfect strap, but since they are permanently attached, no go.

I have two or three straps that will kind of work but are not perfect. I'll have to fiddle with that part.

Anyway, I decided not to dunk, I don't think she needs it though I'd love to wash the perfume odor out. So I stuffed her with paper, attached a temp strap, and hung her out in the sun for a day. I was hoping the warmth would unflatten her, and the sun would help dissipate the odor. She's slightly less stinky. If I don't get the smell out, and once I get the strap situation sorted, I still have the option of dunking her.

So here she is. Not anything exciting, and maybe I should have posted her in the bargains thread, but since we were having this conversation here, this is where I posted her lil story. I can carry her as a handle bag, should the occasion arise.

I mean, seriously, look at the hardware and everything, spotless except for, well, the spots. :p

Great bag!! I just bought a spectator Court bag today too. As far as the smell goes I've heard of people using dryer sheets, or ground coffee in a sac, or even those little silica gel packets that come in shipping items. These might work taking out the old lady perfume smell w/ out having to dunk. Good luck! Looks beautiful;)

Beautiful! I just filled my smoke smelling bag with Carpet Fresh.

I am wondering about the mirror - it sounded in the listing like it was originally part of the bag.

I have this bag that is in great condition except for a few wrinkles so I decided I would do just a quick dunk. The weird thing is that when I dunked, some areas didn't get soaked like there was possibly conditioner or something that was keeping the water from absorbing. So I am wondering if it is okay to leave it like this or do I need to soap it out if all I am trying to do is reshape the bag. What do you think?

Two really cool bags...love them both!

Okay, I just received a jar of obenaufs but I am not sure when/how to use it, any advice?

I've used mine kind of like I"d use Blackrocks on more beat up bags or my personal bags that I wear the heck out of. It seems to do well on the Vachetta/raw leathers, but works well for everything. I think Obenaufs is something Docride gives a lot of advice about over in Hermes. I prefer Blackrock of the two, but hang onto Obenaufs for the Vachetta stuff. It's got a protective quality as well as beign resistant to mold etc.
