You're telling my life story....:)
That Court bag was WELL WORTH $3. I love the Court bag and I think it might be worth buying a strap for it since it's such a classic enduring bag!! Your thrift shops are over all much better priced than mine are!! Mine are just getting worse at ratcheting up the prices.
I found some great stuff this week too ! Just had to "drop in and look" ....I almost always find something cool.

Very true, I often find that prices are quite high on the used coach bags and that I can sometimes score a great deal on a less well-known brand, just because it was not recognized as a designer item. I am sure that my $2 Bonnie Cashin Coach Small Shopper would have been priced much higher if the "Coach" tag hadn't been hidden by the "Saks" label.

I just felt bad leaving that beautiful bag there in a pile of junk when I knew that it had so much potential!

I'll keep my eyes open for a new strap. I think that it would be a waste of money to try and repair the current strap. Thanks!

The Court bag is what started this whole journey for me in the first place!! I bought my first one while active duty in the US Army... matched my uniform and was the only brand endorsed by the US Army for carrying with a uniform... they used to sell them in the PX on some bases...
I paid $150 for mine at the outlet store in Carmel, CA in 1997 and thought I was getting a deal. $3 makes me want to cry... lol!!
And then, after all that... it was lost during my divorce when my ex husband sent me to jail for something I did not do, cleaned out the house, and put all of my belongings out on the driveway... he let his employees (he owns a restaurant) come by and take whatever they wanted.

I have been slowly replacing the things I lost ever since... and mostly have everything back again except heirlooms that were not replaceable...

Your Court bag is beautiful, and my favorite color for any bag... black!!

Wow --what you've been through!!! ....

I always thought the Court bag would look awesome as a bag to go with a uniform...who knew???

And I didn't think anyone's ex hubby could top mine, but sounds like yours was a colossal (bleep).......I am happy you are able to replace some lost things. Sooo sad to lose heirlooms though. :nogood:

Definitely a plan!! And I bet other crossbody straps from other bags would suffice if you enjoy carrying her.

If taking photos and posting them didn't take so much time, I'd have a lot on the handbag forum second hand thread. There are a TON of high end quality -but obscure labeled bags out there. Things better known in Europe etc. And I've learned how to authenticate Kate Spade (i really love her stuff!!) but there are so many fakes that aren't selling -so many-, that I'm having better luck finding an occasional well priced real Spade bag because the pricers think it's all fake when it isn't.

That is only one tiny part of the story. It gets worse from there... I think I was involved in the only divorce I have ever heard of where my ex husband's parents sued me separately outside of the divorce. They sued for money they had loaned us as a down payment on our house. I had already signed the house over to my ex husband before they sued, and they still did it. They forced me into bankruptcy, and that forced their son into bankruptcy because our finances were still linked. They are not too bright, but the bright side is that Karma is dealing with them in ways I never could:

Liz and Ray are my exes parents.... says a lot about them that this dispute is also amongst family...

That's sure is something. I've got a jerk for an ex, too. It's been many years since our divorce. I ran into him a couple of years ago. The years have not been kind to him. He looked really bad. Yes, Karma is a bleep.

Hey angelaira, sounds like you are much better off out of that family! I hope that you continue to post any rehabs that you have left, and maybe some pics of your Hermes when you get it.... Hope the Paris picture is cause you've been there?

Lol! Yes Karma is not too nice... my ex and I have peace now, and a child together, so he will not be completely out of my life for a long time yet. Right now I just signed the papers today to stop child support collection on him because he is about to lose his house, and possibly his business. I am actually very sad about it because that house was purchased to raise our child in, and that business takes care of his needs, but even I cannot stop the blessings he has bestowed upon himself through his terrible actions.

But, Karma is my friend. I remarried, and the photo is from my honeymoon in Paris with my new husband! That was the January before last. We have another Europe trip possibly coming up again, and I love Europe so I am very thrilled to get there twice in my lifetime! I had always wanted to have a honeymoon in Paris, and we only got to go there for a weekend, but it was the most amazing weekend of my life!! We spent three weeks in Germany where he was working, and it was wonderful.

With the ex, I do my best to kill him with kindness. He cheated, and he is now married to the woman he cheated with, and her and I have become friends. Life is a strange journey, and you just never know where it might take you!!
I will continue to post my rehabs, even if they are Hermes and not Coach... I actually have my first Hermes rehab coming in later this week, a key fob that I ordered from a seller in Japan. It is bright orange, with black marks all over it, totally used and abused, so we shall see if I can work any miracles on it!

This one’s name was always a mystery to me...until Hyacinth authenticated it as a 1993 Casey Bag #9923 a few days ago. I paid $5.00 at Goodwill in 2008. For a little bag, she’s very solid, just badly in need of a bath! See the before pics at http://forum.purseblog.com/coach-shopping/authenticate-this-coach-694619-730.html#post21975887

During the bath I used bar soap on the dark areas on the front flap and scrubbed with a toothbrush. As she dried, they’re still dark. Then I tried a pink eraser...still dark. Conditioned with Leather CPR and more erasing seemed to lighten a bit. I just don’t think this is ever going to completely clean up.

Finished with Blackrocks and it’s as good as it’s going to get...because of the magnetic closure, this part of the flap will always get touched! There are still a couple of mystery dents on the front flap that I hope, with some exercise, will diminish. And on the back, the diagonal "stripes" are not scratches, just the grain of the leather.

An overall improvement, I think, and I’ll use and enjoy her!

This cute little Carnival Bag #9925 authenticated by Hyacinth as from 1996 has been in my collection since 2008. See the before pics at http://forum.purseblog.com/coach-shopping/authenticate-this-coach-694619-730.html#post21975926

She appeared as though she might have been over stuffed in her past life, as the zipper and the top of the bag looked distorted and stretched. A warm sudsy bath, rinse and reshape seem to help immensely. The piping drank in a lot of Leather CPR and Blackrocks helped restore her glow...such nice squooshy leather!

On my birthday in 2008, my dear MIL gave me a little cash, not knowing what to give me as a gift...I immediately strolled into an antique shop in our little town, hit a half-price sale and walked out with a near-perfect Court Bag #9870 for $13.38 (including sales tax)! Hyacinth authenticated her from 1996. See before pics at http://forum.purseblog.com/coach-shopping/authenticate-this-coach-694619-735.html#post21993243

One of my easiest rehabs, except for the pen marks on the underneath side of the front flap that wouldn’t budge. Maybe they’ve been there from 1996 (lol!). This is one beautiful classic bag...I’ll be proud to show this one off!
