I have a some rehab questions for you lovely ladies.
1) How long does it take to dry a tan glove purse vs. pebble leather purse? I can not be sure if mine are completely dried or not after 48 hours indoor....
2) Is Leather CPR better or blackrocks better for pebbel leather? I was told the white lotion may get "stuck" in pebble leather but it sure is easier to apply!
3) Is Leather CPR going to darken leather trim like blackrocks? One of my tan bag will be washed and I hope NOT to darken it if at all possible.

Thanks and I hope you can all help me out!

I also have a light color bag that has ink bled through from inside out. I am at lost as to how to remove this saturated ink. Should I wash the whole bag first, or do some sort of spot treatment first?

WHat is the most effective way to spot remove a inky mark? Thanks!

This old girl has been in my closet since 2006...don't remember what I paid, or even where she came from. Hyacinth authenticated her as an Oliver Bag 0077-205 #9902 from 1992-93. (See the before pics: http://forum.purseblog.com/coach-shopping/authenticate-this-coach-694619-710.html#post21904212)

After a bath, brass cleaning, conditioning with Leather CPR and finishing with Blackrocks, she's glowing again. Blackrocks really works for rejuvenating worn looking piping! I'm please with my results on this one.

But I'm changing her name to Thomas, as she has LOTS of nooks and crannies :)

She looks great, but I think that Olivia or Thomasina would be more appropriate!

I sure wouldn't use blackrocks on pebbled leather and I probably wouldn't used leather cpr either. If you decide to try leather cpr be sure to apply it lightly and wipe off the excess immediately. You are correct about the white lotion drying in the nooks and crannies.

I use lexol or leather therapy oil on pebbled bags.

Just washing and conditioning a faded, dried out bag may darken (restore) the color, but Leather CPR does not darken leather slightly like blackrocks.

I have never successfully eradicated a really serious ink spot on any color bag. I can sometimes lighten or even eradiate a stray pen mark using hairspray or rubbing alcohol and a bath, but not always. I don't think you will be able to remove a bad ink spot that has leaked through the leather. You might be able to use acrylic paint to camouflage it. Could you post photos of the bag?

Below are before and after pics of a tan bag that I recently rehabbed that had bad ink spots on the inside pocket. I used acrylic paint to cover them - but this was an inside pocket - I don't know how well it would look on the exterior of the bag. Where is the ink mark on your bag?

I have not had much experience with suede but I have heard of the Ugg cleaning kit being used successfully on Coach suede.

ok thank you :smile1: yeah I have the brush that has the rubber nubies on one side and then nylon and really fine metal bristles on the other then it also has a little rubber lip on it at the top (paid $4.95 for it at a shoe store that sells Ugg and Bearpaw boots). I am not able to upload pictures yet on my brush. But I am glad to know that the kit for the UGGS will work on the Coach Suede that is a relief since I have that :smile1: Thank you so much for all the help I really appreciate it

Thanks!
Here are the inky mess inside the bag and on the outside. I worry that washing may expand the size on the outside. Is that possible?

Ink removal is always tricky business...especially on a light bag.
Here is a link from ledobe that I found helpful when I tried to get a big ink stain out of a city bag: http://forum.purseblog.com/coach/coach-rehab-and-rescue-club-624452-95.html#post21501462

My experience was not completely successful, however much improved and I was able to save it with acrylic paint on the outside.

You can also use the "Search this Thread" for ink removal and find other techniques and suggestions. Hope this helps...Good Luck!

Thanks so much for your helpful links!

Unfortunately, today was not my lucky rehab day. Either that I have no experience to tell what is doable what is not, or maybe my skills just don't measure up. I followed the alcohol method and dab and clean for an hour or so, and end up making the ink much bigger and messier. The worst of all is that the alcohol had damaged the finish of the leather!

I think I am done with this bag as it looks simply too horrible. I am so sorry that I ruined you, white bag! :(

Here are today's pics...I think I was just a little to impatient (who me?) and worked a little too fast. Not the first time, and not likely the last :)

Oh yeah...working with white acrylic next to black piping is a real joy...NOT!

As upset as I am with myself for ruining (worsening) my white bag, I think it serves as a good opportunity to practice my paint skill.

Would you please tell me where you purchase the acrylic paint from, any tips for choosing the color, what ratio (paint:lotion) to use, and if I need to wait for the bag to become completely dry before painting? Thanks so much!

I tried to find the products several if you mentioned but could not. I found lots of Lexol products, but all were liquid or oil. No cream. And no Blackrock anywhere. I went to Tractor Supply Co today, and they have three kinds of Lexol, but I don't know which to pick. One is for "today's leathers" tanned with vegetable and chrome. One is original. One was for mostly saddles, etc, and really hard leathers. Also, no one seems to know what Blackrock is. I guess if you tell me what specifically to get I'll have to order on line. Thanks.

I gotmy Blackrock from EBay. It may cost a little more because of the shipping but I did not have the energy to search for it locally.
