This old girl has just had a sad, mistreated life! She started out light tan, was abused with shoe polish and darkened with vinegaroon. She was still a spotted mess and was just not looking very Coach like! What's a girl (me) to do? Get out the Minwax and keep going!
After seeing 4213Jen's recent wood stain success, I knew I had to try again! This is going to work! As it had been conditioned after the vinegaroon experiment, I poured acetone nail polish remover all over, rubbed it in then rinsed it off. Then scrubbed with a Magic Eraser and let her dry in the sun. After 2 good rubbed in treatments with Ebony Wood Finish over the last two days we'll see how she looks in the morning. I did learn today, that it's a good idea to wipe off the excess 15 minutes or so after rubbing it in. I'm sure that will help with the drying too. I also discovered that just like a felt tip explosion inside a bag, the hangtag wicked the stain from the back to the front and is now jet black! After it dries, I'll just rough up the back with a suede brush.

My orange satchel is completely dry and CPR conditioned. I am ok with the pen mark, I think. Tell me whether I should use black rocks on it now that it is dry and conditioned.
Also, as a side note, I have collected four of these soft satchels now, they're my new favorite. Let me know if you see any....

This is a beautiful bag!! I've never seen it before. The color is TDF and you did a fantastic job cleaning her up and giving her a return to life!! Thanks! I do love it, but even if I use a conditioner like blackrocks, I don't want to make her too dark, I love her vibrant orange color...

Thank you, in your opinion, should I use black rocks? It looks good in the pictures b/c it's newly conditioned...looks good in person too but mainly just dryyyy very dryyy. Has soaked up two coats of CPR.
These bags are such a surprise when they show up in the mail. They never look like the pictures. The one showed up today I got for 99 cents. It was advertised, and the pic looked like an off white bag. It's actually a very light tan, so in much better shape than I thought. It did have a button on the flap which I removed, and zi have no idea why it was ever put there. The leather would have been fine, now there are 2 small holes. I think I am going to bath her, hoping the leather will shrink a bit. Does anyone have any ideas about filling the holes?
I looked at that bag too, wondered about the button. Maybe you'll luck out and the leather will swell and the holes will be less noticeable?

It came wrapped, was nice like getting a present. For 99 cents you can't beat it. I thought shpg was high, but checked on label and wasn't too far off. Post Office has gone up so much lately. I too am hoping leather will swell..
Please show us the before and after! Can't wait to see another transformation!
