I am loving the family shots! What a fantastic collection, and great way to store them too

It took some convincing to get my husband to help me with those shelves... they are from Ikea, and built right in our bedroom... we live in a small apartment, and the space is limited.

And what I love most about my collection, is that almost all of them came to me needing work, seriously discounted because of their condition, and I made them all pretty again myself. It makes me happy to see them every day.

They all look brand new, you should be so proud of the work you have done!

I basically use the Lexol as a cleaner, and the Blackrock's as a preservative. I also use a product I found on Ebay ( and talked about here ) called Leather Therapy. After I wash a Coach bag ( the older unlined bags ) and let it dry partially, I let the Leather Therapy soak in to renew the leather. I do that on 3 consecutive days, then apply the Blackrocks, 2-3 coats to protect. Your bag is in good shape, I would maybe just go over with saddle soap or Lexol, then use the Blackrocks to protect the bag. I use my hands for rubbing all the products in, then polish with an old towel. If temps are too cold where you are, you can warm the Blackrocks with a hair dryer and makes it easier to apply. You just want to apply in small 3 in circles and then buff.

Thanks!
I am fascinated and fearful of bathing leather goods. Is there a thead showing step-by-step instruction on how to do it?

You can go back to the beginning of this thread, also there's a member Momtok who has a thread. I'll see if ai can find it. Not all bags have to be dunked. If the inside is a mess, or if the bag is badly water stained. Here's the thread

Thanks!

I was terrified the first time I did it! I bought a black Coach Court bag on e-bay, and that was my first time ever bathing leather. That was almost a year ago exactly. I had read this entire thread, and I had seen all of the photos of before and afters, and I was totally enthralled!
There is nothing to worry about, it is really easy and fun...

You guys rock! I just washed a no-name wallet for a test drive..... Will see how it turns out tomorrow!!!!

Today I found this Salvatore Ferragamo wallet at a consignment store. I posted pictures in the authentication thread for Ferragamo and am waiting for a response but after looking at their website Im confident its authentic.

Anyway I digress. Now I know its not a Coach but I thought I could get some of your input...I was wondering what kind of moisturizer I should use on it. Its like a soft calf leather. Also, the brass hardware is starting to rub and turn slightly silver on the corners. Is there anything to fix this? Will Brasso restore the gold color or make it worse?!

I have some similar bags by Dooney and Bourke, and I haven't had much luck getting the corners right. The Blackrocks had very little effect, and normal moisturizer (Glove CPR) didn't do anything to fix those areas. It is a very flat orange leather, so any attempt to use paint probably will show, so I have stopped trying to get them perfect.

I gave one a bath this past week:

You can see in the last photo that the corners on that bag are still the same after a complete bath and after drying.

I pulled that bag out and did an experiment so you can see how different moisturizers will work:

Glove CPR...Where did you find that?
