Now for the result. The lanolin did darken the bag, and the stains have disappeared unless you look hard. The leather is much improved, although still not as good as the black tote. I think I may have overworked the leather and am now carrying her to see how she goes. I will probably use my Oakwood leather conditioner in a week or so and see what happens. My main concern is the straps - they are a little perished and I'm not sure if this will get worse. I can't get a good picture of them to include here. I haven't had any rub off of colour while wearing the bag. I also haven't done anything with the slices, and you can see them in the picture.

I am really enjoying carrying this bag too. She's very comfortable and works well as a modern bag, even though she is over 30 years old

I hung it on my clothes line to dry, using the internal pocket for the pegs. When it had dried ( I think I left it out overnight) I applied 3 batches of my leather conditioner with the beeswax and emu oil in it and buffed between each application after allowing penetration time of maybe an hour. It looked a little blah before the application of the conditioner, but the Patricias legacy bag was the same and it ended up looking as new

Your bag looks beautiful! You have inspired me to try woodstain, I bought a water based stain today since your brand isn't available in the US. How did you finish after you stained the bag?

The conditioner was applied over 3 days

The bag looks great and the kisslock repair is fantastic, nice work!

You've done a great job with her so far! I agree, I carry this bag like any of my other modern totes with my netbook and essentials to work. ! The kisslock looks great too!

Love it! I haven't posted the black one I got for $79, which turned out out to be a steal because it was near perfect, but I can't wait to carry it. I think you're right, they are still very fashionable. I had looked at quite a few watermelon totes, but I like the longer straps on this style because I know I will actually carry it!

I plan to post my two $79 bags in the bargains thread soonish.

Ditto. I love the look of the watermelon tote, but unless I trip over one at a thrift shop somewhere, I won't spend the $ on ebay for one, because I just know the handles won't work for me. But if I do find one, I'd give her a good try and see. But they sure are cute. The skinny tote's long handles are just so user friendly, and that kisslock pocket is just so functional. Yes, Bonnie was a visionary.

Thanks, I thought it was unusual. I know that the chain strap is not authentic, but at least it is now functional again. Why do people always have to loose the straps!?

I love how it came out Katev, and it looks good with a chain!

I have a missing strap dilemna too, and I'm going to use it as an excuse to post this cute, not coach bag in here. Don't tell. I found it at a thrift store years ago, and I need to find the perfect chain about it. I've done a little research on the brand, and a lot of them came with serpentine chains, but this has such pretty rhinestone detail that I wonder if it didn't have something a little more special maybe.

I have to keep my eyes out for the right bag to steal the chain from!

Oh, this thread makes me crazy sometimes!! I love the kisslock bags, and the burgundy one looks terrific!! Great call on taking off the leather, I think the gold is lovely on the side!
Katev, that bag is so cute, and I love the chain strap!!

Well, I have been to the Coach store near my house four times in two days. We went yesterday to find the perfect tag for my husband's Metropolitan briefcase. I got it on E-Bay for about $80 and cleaned it up and moisturized it, and it looks really good now. They gave us a really cute brass tag that is a circle that has a spinning disc in the center... I will post a pic, lol! He carried it for the first time today, and already got a bunch of compliments from co-workers!
Here it is:

I then ran back because they had a brass tag in the box that would look great on my Quincy, so I asked for it and they gave it to me.
Well, today I decided to take the strap of my Stewardess in to get new grommets. You cannot mail in just the strap, you have to mail in the whole bag. Ok, ran home, grabbed the bag, drove back over, and they are mailing my Stewardess in for repairs... I have my fingers crossed that I didn't just waste $20 on a 40% off coupon! Oh, and you cannot order grommets either... I tried that too, and they said no, you would have to mail the bag in for repairs to get new grommets... Argh!!!
