She came out beautiful-congrats!Here are the after pics of the twill tote 7446. I don't care much for the break-away zipper but it is a nice-sized, light-weight, and inexpensive tote!
What a pretty bag! It is a shame that no one took care of her before. You did a great job and she is much improved! So, here is the full bag. I meant to polish the brass and blackrocks the strap before I took them, but these show pretty much how she looks:

After seeing this, I had to do a search for the dye! I have not been successful yet (just searched tack shops, the one that had dye did not have tan) but when I do find one, I think I can be more brazen about getting this 2 inch long pen mark off the front of my BT station bag! I just LOVE the color that turned out to be!

She looks gorgeous, what an improvement!
What a beauty! But I understand your dilema. I have many black vintage bags but when I want to wear one I usually grab the Stewardess!
Good thinking! I am often happiest with the results of a simple rehab! I have just posted before and after pics of my black ramblers legacy - a super easy rehab - at the link below:

And here are the before pics from another easy rehab. A Twill or Mercer Bucket Tote 7446. It was made in China in 2003 and I paid $10 for it at Savers.
All I did was put it inside a bag, run it through the washer, let it dry, and then condition the leather. Simple! I will post the after pics with the next message.
OMG Amazon! Thankies - Off I go to search now.. At the very least, to add to my wishlist for when we order >$25. I never did get prime for myself.. Question - did you use "oil dye" or just "leather dye"? No idea if there's a real difference, but I'd rather be safe and go with what you got![]()
This looks really good !! I think the only twill bags that wash well are the black ones! I've had maroon, white and taupe and had varying- not so great -results. Mostly because the black strip of leather surrounding the edges etc . would somehow come through and discolor the edging on the bag!! It ended up looking bad and the discoloration would NOT come off. Otherwise, I'd have liked them because they were a nice summery lightweight bag!! I"ve sold all of them for just enough to get my thrifting money back!

one thing i'm learning is the dye they use is so variable!! I just rehabbed 4 mahogany colored bags of varying ages but same color. Some bled like mad and some hardly even discolored the water!! So, maybe depending on the actual individual bag, you may be ok. And you are really good at this!!Thanks, but I'm sorry to hear that because I have a light blue mercer bag with black trim in my rehab pile!![]()
