Hyacinth (my new best friend) authenticated this RED 2001 Legacy Small Hobo for me this morning! I paid $9.99 at Goodwill back in 2008. One of my favorite bags, this one had lots of black stuff (!) where the leather folds under the buckles. While it’s packed and on my shoulder, not so noticeable, but when sitting with straps down, yuck! Also there were some spots of unknown origin on the inside, probably candy from who knows when!

After I treated the brass with my vinegar, salt & flour mix, she went into a warm, sudsy bath.

YIKES! Was this thing dunked in a vat of cherry Kool-Aid, or accidentally dropped while toting a bottle of fine cabernet?

My red Basic Bag certainly didn’t bleed like this (though this bag was always darker than any of my other reds! Most of the color seemed to come from the inside (!) of the bag and turned my hands the same lovely shade as the bath water. And it won’t come off - even with Orange Clean, Comet or Purell!.

She’s stuffed and drying outside now, and is looking more brown than red ??? The grain of this leather is very unusual...I hope she dries well. More in a few days...

Oh I love this one!!! Beautiful red color!!!

Hyacinth authenticated this cute little Soho Small Zip #4104 from 1998 a few days ago. She's been in my closet since 2008 and I've forgotten where she came from and what she cost (senior moment?).

She got a bath, and a little scrub with Purell and alcohol on some spots on the front and back. She also had a big ink spot on one side, more on the inside than out. Some spots came out, but didn't have much luck with others, so I resorted to a mixture of acrylic and ArmorAll Gel, massaged in all over, including the strap. Touched up the edges of the strap with some straight acrylic.

Looking pretty good today, but can't touch her to start conditioning til I get the RED off my hands :(

Ooh I like that one! It's interesting to me how some will fade a lot, and others of about the same age and color don't. The red city bag I'm working on faded quite a bit but I really scrubbed the inside and treated ink on the front so I assume that's why. It didn't turn my hands red but the towels I used to stuff and set her on have pink on them.

My Basic Bag. I am so excited about this one because it is such a nice bag!!!

http://coachbagrehab.blogspot.com/2012/05/coach-basic-bag.html

the basic bag I'm working on has the anchors also, and I believe it's got a brass hook/ring...it's got the stick on serial # but the "sticker" is missing.

I'm hoping I didn't ruin it last night with the dye, I think the next step will be to mix some more dye in with conditioner and work it in. We'll see what it looks like when I get home from work tonight. I'm sure it will still be wet!

Hyacinth authenticated this bone Dinky Bag as being from the late 70s to 1987. I paid $5.99 at Salvation Army back in 2007 and she's been in my closet ever since - still with the price tag on!

I just had no fear of this one! Having recently done two bone rehabs, I was armed and ready with paint and everything! What? No Need?

I'll post some after pics in a day or so, after a little touch up on the edges of the strap and some all-over conditioning...AFTER my hands aren't RED anymore (pink fingerprints would NOT be pretty!).

Thanks! As soon as I'm not red anymore, I can get back to work...or work on something black, maybe :)

Those of you who are admiring the Madisons made in Italy, they are indeed lovely. I have one, love the size and shape of it. The seller pointed out one piece of info to me...the hardware between the strap and the bag has a tiny little screw in it. Hyacinth also confirmed this...a very nice and interesting touch.

See in this pic?

I came here to find smaller bags...all the current bags are just too big for me and I'm not into bags that slouch...except for one...my Zoe. LOL

I hope to add a few more Italian made Madison's to my collection too.

I love your beechnut Madison Pierre, I have not seen that bag before. I really admire all of the Italian coach bags, the madisons, gramercys and others! My only complaint is that they can be really tiny. I am short so I don't want a ginormous bag, but I need a little more room than they usually offer. I usually only carry my Italian Coach bags for special occasions.

I think my favorite is the Gramercy Zip, I love the textured surface and the suede-cloth lining! But the Madison Royalton is the largest and most useful of the group.

From L to R: Black Madison Carlyle 4401 ($8), Beechnut Madison Gracie 4413 ($2), Black Gramercy Zip ($45), and Beechnut Madison Royalton ($10)

Those are gorgeous in the photo!!! I have a Madison Carlyle in black on the way... I wanted a round bag anyway, and that one seems like a gorgeous one that I will probably actually carry. I am 6' tall, with back problems from military service that limit the amount of weight I can carry on my shoulder comfortably, so I have found that most of the Coach smaller bags are really nice for me. I really want a Gracie as well, I love the look, and I think having a bag that I can carry on my arm like that might be better for my back. I am watching one on e-bay... hoping no one else bids it up, but I suspect there might be a shill bidder on it, as the main bidder has only 5 feedbacks...

You have an amazing eye for bargains...these bags are to die for!

And Katev, how many Coach bags do you have in your collection? My curiosity is piqued now because every time I do a google search for a rare bag, I get a purse forum link and sure enough, it is yours...
