I have a metallic Poppy and it is like suede too. I bet the water is what made the bag rough. Have you tried just rubbing it with a dry cloth or soft brush? The weird thing about my Poppy is that it gets spotted easily but when I go back later, the spots disappear sometimes or look a lot less bad. This is the bag that I scotchguarded and since I have done that, it hasn't gotten stained.

Ok I'll try the dry cloth and get some scotchguard... thanks so much!!!

Hyacinth, are those Madison colors for the purses that were made in Italy? I just got a lipstick holder that appears to be granite-colored and it was made in Italy. Were all purses in those textured, sort of two-toned, colors made in Italy?

All the Madisons were made in Italy. They were the only line that used that "caviar-style" leather.

I have a question....I see alot of you say to use Apple guard or Scotchguard our leather handbags.....but my SA at the Coach boutique tells me I shouldn't use anything on them. What to do??

Post at the Main Coach forum here and ask but be specific about your bag's style name, style number and color.

In case its of interest... a woman who worked at the Coach factory NYC... in the 80's said they used "cadillac" leather conditioner on the bags...
to be found on amazon.
I bought 3 12 ounce bottles of this stuff for 20....
I believe its the same product as Coach sells in small bottles for way more.

Does anyone know if it is possible to repair the metallic coming off of my Coach leather purse I've purchased?
Is a new bag or is the metallic coming off from normal wear? If it is a manufacturing defect, you can return it to Coach for repair or replacement. There is a thread by katev that shows how she repaired her worn metallic bag with paint.

It is not new, but will check out the thread. Thanks so much for responding!

Very disappointed with Coach purse which I purchased on sale at $200 (regular almost $400). Purse is tan leather with gold dusting. Specifically indicated to the sales person that I was looking for a purse that would stand up well, and he recommended this purse. However dye transfer from jeans occurred within the first few hours of use (less than one day after purchase I went back to the store). Dye from blue jeans did not transfer to anything else that I was wearing. I felt misled by the salesperson and also wish they would have warned me of the possibility of dye transfer from blue jeans. Of course they do not even have a suggestion as to how to clean the leather and after my persistence they did send off to Coach head office in Florida, however did not give me any hope that Coach would do anything. I've never had an issue such as this with a purse before and will not buy Coach ever again. I wonder why so many women buy Coach purses when they are so expensive, yet the company offers such limited service to customers. The manager and sales staff did not care. I won't be a repeat customer. There are so many companies out there with better purses and they cost less. Also the customer service is so much better for other purses ... for instance, I would rather buy a Brighton purse any day rather than ever purchase a Coach purse again.

I'm sorry you were misled by the salesperson. The bag you got sounds like one that many salespeople have warned people about, specifically that it is prone to dye transfer. Dye transfer can occur in any brand. There is a product I saw on Amazon that claims to clean it but as far as I know, the best thing is prevention. I have sprayed my light bags with protector spray and I hope it works. If Coach can't repair it, they will most likely give you a coupon for another bag or give you your money back. I don't know where you can get better customer service.

I have this 1996 #4907 Sonoma small bucket zip. I believe this is the lime color. I'm trying to determine what this color actually looked like when it was new. Mine looks rather faded and those color samples don't seem very accurate. Do you have any pictures of this bag, preferably in this color? thanks
