How do you clean the satin lining in a Coach bag? I am afraid of waterspots. TIA
I have never gotten waterspots. I have used a mild spray cleaner (one of those ones that come concentrated and you mix with water) and also oxyclean laundry stain remover, but I think you can use dish soap too (just make sure to use it sparingly because it would be hard to rinse out all the suds). There was only one wristlet I had trouble with - it had that heritage print lining, and it kept developing black smudge like spots. I would clean in one area, and a smudge spot would show up somewhere else. Eventually I got rid of most of it and decided to quit while I was ahead. But on all other bags, I have never had any trouble, and they always look better after cleaning.

Guys, out of curiosity, how often does Coach have a price increase?

Coach has new bags and accessories coming out monthly, so they don't really have "price increases" like some other brands. New styles come out usually the last Friday of the month, are sold in boutiques for a few (or several) months, and then whatever hasn't sold out goes to the outlets and is sold at a discount. Since very few styles (other than the Coach classics) stay around for years, they don't raise their prices on them. Does that make sense? Gradually prices have gone up over the years, but Coach does not do "price increases" in the way that you might talk about Chanel or Tiffany, for example.

Hope that helps! :D

Hello everyone! This is my first post on this forum and I'm really looking forward to reading nearly everything on this board. (So it keeps me from housework. Big deal.)

I'm also pretty new to Coach collecting, so bear with me while I get the vocabulary right.

ETA: I haven't read all of this thread, so I hope I'm not duplicating.

I've got a Coach bag that is utterly gorgeous (smooth leather, thick legacy style). It has this mildew stench I haven't gotten rid of yet. Anybody have solutions that have worked?

What I've done that hasn't worked well:
  • Closing it in a plastic bag with dryer sheets
  • Spraying with Febreze (many times)
  • Spraying with ZeroOdor (also many times)
I've heard of, but haven't used:
  • there is a mildew-killer spray for leather/fabrics from Home Depot type stores
  • spray the purse with 1/2 water 1/2 vinegar
  • put it in a sealed plastic bag with a big handful of freshly ground coffee or kitty litter for several days.
Help! And thank you in advance!

There is the Poppy hippie and a smaller crossbody bag. What did it look like?

Someone asked in another thread for color samples or hangtag "chips" for classic and vintage leather bags and suggested that they also be posted here, so these are the ones I've managed to find so far - obviously Coach made a lot more than what's shown here:

1981-1982 - all
1986 - Summer
1987 - classics
1987 - Lightweights

Hi! I have a couple of questions about cleaning my Metallic Leather coach handbag.. Style # 15922...
Recently, I wore it with a pair of jeans and the dye rubbed off (I was informed later that they sre notorious for this)... anyway I tried the damp cloth method & it only partially removed the stain... also now the leather isn't the same texture! Help! How can I get rid of this stain and return it to its natural texture!? Coach told me NOT to use ANY cleaning products on the bag!!

If the dye rubbed off, there is a thread by katev in which she used paint to repair her metallic bag. Color transfer is almost impossible to get rid of. If you use a cleaning product strong enough to remove it, it will damage the leather finish as well.
I have that bag in the wisteria so it isn't metallic. Over time, the leather has wrinkled some so the embossing isn't as evident as it once was. Is that what you are referring to as the natural texture?
I have another metallic bag that I have scotchguarded. If you get your bag fixed, you should treat it with Apple or Scotchguard to protect it from further damage.

And a few more colors from the mid-1990s:

1995 - Fall
1995 - Fall-Madisons
1996 - Spring, Classic & Madison
1996 - Spring, Sonoma & Soho
Hyacinth, are those Madison colors for the purses that were made in Italy? I just got a lipstick holder that appears to be granite-colored and it was made in Italy. Were all purses in those textured, sort of two-toned, colors made in Italy?

The texture of the bag is really soft, almost like suede but when I called coach she said it was a metallic leather bag. It is just the area that I used the damp cloth on and it is just a lot more rough than the reat of the bag now.

I have a metallic Poppy and it is like suede too. I bet the water is what made the bag rough. Have you tried just rubbing it with a dry cloth or soft brush? The weird thing about my Poppy is that it gets spotted easily but when I go back later, the spots disappear sometimes or look a lot less bad. This is the bag that I scotchguarded and since I have done that, it hasn't gotten stained.
