They will never be a premier brand no matter how much they try. IMO a brand can't be a premier brand or become one with so many outlets around, and so many styles every few months. The outlets devalue the brand.


And this is why I stopped carrying coach! They shot themselves in the foot when they opened outlets. In addition, they are doing absolutely nothing to prevent counterfeiters.
 
I don't plan to argue with anyone (poster a couple up), but I will say I didn't misunderstand what the SA said. I have no idea if she is stupid or not. Her comments certainly were, however.

I don't appreciate the inference that I cannot understand what is being said to me. I've already been told I'm old and not FF. I don't need to have my intelligence or ability to understand a comment called into question.

First of all I want to say that it is sad that you will believe anything you read on here. lizmil could have misunderstood the SA, or maybe she didn't. Who know? However, if the SA did say that, I will agree that it was probably better left unsaid.

Coach knows they are not a premier brand. Of course they are about business. What company isn't? But to say that they care about nothing other than money is a bit extreme. No, make that a lot extreme. They have great customer service. Are they trying to get you to buy something? ABSOLUTELY. What SA isn't? But they also want YOU to be happy. Maybe the SA lizmil had an encounter with handled the situation poorly; maybe she misinformed her.

Coach is going in a new direction. They hired a new creative director for heaven's sake. That doesn't mean they want to completely change their customer base. They want to broaden it, what company doesn't? But of course you are not going to get PCE if you never shop there. It's called PREFERRED customer event for a reason.

But for YOU and others on here to call SA's stupid like that is entirely rude and shows your true character. And quite frankly if I were that SA and knew the way you ladies act behind your silly profiles I wouldn't want you representing the brand I work for either.

First of all, welcome to the forum. However, before you berate all the members here, the original poster did not have an ulterior motive by sharing her story as a fabrication. As a shopper, I can empathize with her as she was excited in buying a Coach only to be shot down by the SA. Perhaps the SA does not agree with the corporation's new marketing strategy, and "over shared" her dismay. Either way, the SA was hired to sell and she lost the sale because no matter if she didn't mean to offend, she did so anyway. As a shopper it is the last thing you want to hear that Coach is encouraging younger shopper to a woman who is of a certain age.

Also, as lizmil explained, she didn't have a coach near her therefore never knew about the PCE. In fact, many coach shoppers are not aware of the PCE like myself until an SA informed me. Perhaps, many of the posters were harsh on that particular SA, but THERE ARE many SA who do their jobs outstandingly. And forum members have always commended those who goes above and beyond.

Lastly, we as buyers do not REPRESENT a company, therefore however "silly" we act is of no importance to a company like Coach. The employee is the representative, the action of an employee especially an SA can make or break a sale. In this case she did not represent her company professionally and should have just bit her tongue.

As for Coach, that they are not always about the money, I beg to differ. Hence they increased the Borough price due to high demand and popularity. Plus they refused to give PCE on certain lines. Understandable. Business will always be about money first. However, what many posters disagree is the current strategy Coach is doing. Of course with any change this makes anyone nervous, especially a loyal brand follower like myself. It's like saying Pepsi is no longer going to have the red and blue logo.

Again, welcome to the forum and I suggest looking at other posts as there are many who commend their SAs whether they work for Coach, Prada and etc.

^Indeed, even if we look from the perspective of the SA, that really was not a smart thing to do; through her thoughtlessness she had lost a sale. Even if the OP doesn't live anywhere close to a FP store, she definitely has other choices when it comes to shopping.
