I once worked for a company that stopped people who bought a ton of product over and over. They did it because these people were setting up overseas black market "shops" that looked like theirs and re-selling the items.

Hey, you have "plenty" of people suing you? Drama!! ;)
Your story sounds like it's straight out of The Bold and The Beautiful:p

I thought this whole Coach thing is absurd until i read your post. But somehow I have to agree with winona. I know in Asia, in places that these big brand companies wont bother to come for at least another hundred years, there are many stores in which sells branded items over priced. Almost every of these items were sale off from previous season, they then got marked up and resell to whoever wants them. IMO i rather go oversea to shop rather than go to these *boutiques*.

There is demand for these fashion items everwhere. But not every place in the world is like America where you can shop until you drop as long as you have money. However, i really dont think 'banning people" like this is the best way to deal with the black market issue.
Plus, i really dont understand why the same bag costs differently depending on where you are. ( please excuse my little knowledge about business) :shame:

Interesting, and yes this is exactly what I was talking about.

I actually went into one of my Coach stores a couple of months back after reading this and I asked one of my SAs what it was about and if it really happens and she says yes, it happens a lot. They do it to prevent resales (ie - selling on Ebay). She mentioned it was against the law to sell the bags higher than retail on such services and many people do it so they have limits to try to help curb that and if people are buying too many items, they just cut them off. *shrug* it sucks, but it's policy.

Are they the only ones with this policy?? Maybe they should price their goods better globally to avoid this kind of arbitrage problem instead of banning customers! Of all the stores to impose bans you'd think the LV on the Champs d'Elysees would be more inclined to do so!

Wow, I am a little behind on the thread...but I think it would suffice to say that I am SHOCKED that Coach would ban you for buying "too many bags". Does a restaurant kick you out after you eat there "too many times"....UH NO they usually send free food over!! Whatever happened to customer appreciation? Surely, you were the very backbone of Coach's business. I can completely see why you are humiliated and MAD. I sure won't be purchasing any Coach items soon...God forbid, I like the purse and I end up buying "too many" more.

I hope they don't ban for too many returns in that case. I have been given gifts that I have returned at the full-price stores yet I have never purchased from the full-price stores ever.

I will just jump on in here and be unpopular, so here goes...

From what you described, it sounds as if in Coach's mind, that you are reselling items--Coach has a strict policy about resellers, and anyone caught selling stuff for more than they paid for in the stores can be cut off (I don't know whether or not you did this, but this is definitely their policy). Also, once a matter goes to Corporate and they send you a cease and desist letter, no one other than a Corporate representative will speak with you about the matter. I believe that this is to protect lower-level company employees from becoming involved in any pending litigation. From what I know of the company, if Cynthia Linke is talking to you, the matter is probably pretty serious, as she is their lead Loss Prevention person for Coach Corporate, as I understand it. Once the matter is at her level, she is probably the only one left to speak with.

Don't abuse is the rule. I'm just scared about returns. I never had a history of purchase with Coach except for the outlets and I'm returning stuff I got as gifts. I don't want to be banned. LOL.
