Heyy everyone!

Does anyone have any good hacks for cleaning and protecting the dior book tote?

My 'fiesta' needs a little cleaning and some protection. Was thinking aboht using a spray like crep protect, the same stuff u can use on shoes. But id need to clean it first ideallt but im worried colours will run.

I will never understand how you can buy a bag with very little after sales service

Dior actually has really good after-sales service. If you encounter a problem with the Book Tote, then bring it in to Dior to see what they can do. They may ask for proof for purchase.

Ive had a chat with my SA and asked her if they clean or can recommend cleaning and she told me unfortunately it wasn't a service they offer.

My plan B was to try cleaning it myself followed by a protection spray

Maybe it's for the Book Tote or canvas items. I know they can repair leather bags.

I personally don't recommend it because fabrics can darken when they soak up a spray, and sprays can include solvents that may make certain colours run or change.

Hi. I just got my first lady dior in black lambskin and the sales assistant told me to get something like mink oil to moisturise the leather monthly. Would anybody have any recommendations on products that work well to maintain the leather and clean the bag? Thank you

Mink oil can alter the finish of the leather it is applied to. Be sure to try it on the bottom first to see what the result looks like. Do not use a lot, or the spot where you apply it initially may leave a mark due to excess product absorbing into the leather.

I also don't suggest moisturizing it monthly, unless you use it daily and notice the leather needs cleaning and conditioning. Mink oil can be applied with a soft neutral-colour cloth, which also cleans the bag (the oil can dissolve some of the dirt and the cloth will take it away) so you won't need to clean it and then condition it.

Thank you. Is there any product people recommend for maintaining the leather then? Oils or just general leather creams/gels etc

You're welcome! If you do a forum search, then you'll be able to see different products that different members have recommended for their bags from various brands.

My own experience with leather goods has informed me not to apply anything to leather products, except for the occasional water-repellent spray for leather if I think the leather may get wet, and only on darker leather items. I once had a black Balenciaga lambskin bag that came from one of the years when the leather they used appeared more "dry", and I followed recommendations here to condition the leather. It actually made the leather worse! It left a residue on the leather, and it changed the feel of the leather to the touch (it made it feel a bit sticky and grimy). I wish I never conditioned it.

Hi All
On original saddles is the hardware brass? Or gold plated brass? Any tips on how to repair?
It is plated brass hardware. I doubt it can be re-plated again. If you can get someone very artistic to use paints that work on metals to mimic the finish of the brass, then you can potentially hide the scratches with paint.

Thanks Average Joe!! I bought my first Dior via Vestierre. Thanks for your authentication help. I showed Dior the photos of the scratched hardware. Unfortunately they say they can’t help (see photo from SA). A good leather repair shop in Melbourne Au said they can replate for AUD$500. I’m going to take the bag in once I receive it for general cleaning. I’ll post here my vintage/ restoration journey. Thanks PFs!!!

Hi! Any ways to clean these stains off a Dior book tote? Thank you!

These are hard to clean because they are on canvas, which can absorb whatever solvent you apply and spread the stain.

These actually look like oxidized glue stains. I would bring this back to Dior first to see what they can do.

If they cannot replace the bag or clean it, then the trick is to use a Q-tip with a tiny bit of lighter fluid applied to it. Not enough to soak the tip, but to moisten it so that it can be used to gently rub the stains without allowing the fluid to absorb. Lighter fluid (butane) vaporizes quickly so as long as you don't soak the Q-tip with it, then it can potentially take off the stain instead of spreading it while soaking into the canvas.
