Hi there I just purchased a diorama from the outlet. It’s my first diorama and noticed cracking of the Grained calfskin around the stitching And the stitching on the base and strap is pretty uneven. Is that pretty typical of the bag? It’s in lavender rose.

Stiff grained leathers are more resilient to scratches and keep their structure well, but also tend to show what looks like cracks on the exit side of the needle that was used to pull the thread through. These "cracks" don't worsen and are hard to see. This is normal for this type of leather. I see this on the Chanel forum with their Caviar leather often. It's just the nature of the stiff finish on the leather which, due to its lack of flexibility, cracks a bit on the underside instead of forming a perfect pinhole when a needle is inserted.

As for the stitching, it looks fine to me. Certain areas at the base have reinforced stitching to join the pieces together so the thread looks doubled in some places. The end result is that it may look a bit uneven because some stitches are not doubled so some are, making the stitching not look perfectly straight to the eye.

The SA offered me a return as they do not have a replacement , I’m so conflicted bc I love the color! I’m glad to hear it won’t get worst. I have a few Chanel caviar bags and none have the exit hole cracking. This bag does feel dry, would it be worth it to apply conditioner? Also, is there a leather protectant spray to prevent color transfer as this is a light colored bag.

It doesn't happen to all the bags made of this type of leather, or Caviar leather. These leathers are more prone to it.

I would not apply anything to this bag. The leather will become shinier over time with use.

Some people say that certain sprays can prevent colour transfer, but the best advice is to avoid getting it in contact with dark, colour-fast fabrics. Sprays can wear off, and some sprays may even make the colour transfer happen more readily.

Hi ladies, have your try to clean your lady dior bag? did the color of the bag transferred to the wiping cloth ? Because when I tried to clean my lady dior ( fuschia ) the color transferred to the wiping cloth, is it normal for colored leather ?

If you rub the leather over and over, the colour can transfer off (because the surface of the leather is getting abraded, and what you see on your cloth is essentially the surface of the leather). It can worsen if you use a cleaning product with the cloth.

Hey girls! Was wondering if you have any tips on buffing out scuffs on the corners of your Lady Dior bag? I used a tiny amount of Apple Leather Cleaner and the scuff got worse :(

Is it also normal to have these marks on the bag? I tend to baby my bags so I am not sure how this happened.

I suggest leaving those scuffs as they are. They aren't that noticeable.

These scuffs can appear depending on how we use and store our bags. Some people never get them, while others do. I was surprised when I saw scuff marks at the bottom corners of my favourite Prada glazed calfskin bag, despite being careful when I use the bag. I guess there was something I must have been doing that caused that (maybe the corners rubbed against my jeans), because they weren't there when the bag was brand new.

Can you please post some pictures so we can see which canvas it is, and what the colour transfer looks like? Thanks!

So sorry for the late reply. I couldnt find my login details.
The color transfer was slightly lighten because I washed again (without touching the leather) while it was still wet that day.

Due to color bleeding, the leather pipping has took the most damage. It was so dry now and the shine has lost.
Its a D Charm Bag. The bottom leather has 2 colors as you can see. I tried to revive the leather with leather honey but to no avail. I have asked professional bag spa and they said they needed to do a color restoration.

I would like to know if the canvas is restorable ? the canvas has a lot of lint or fraying even before the washing. The bag is very dull looking now. I regretted washing my bad unprofessionally

The leather needs to be redyed and refinished. The washing has damaged the surface of the leather and left a long watermark along the bottom.

Hi. I am new here. I have a Dior Montaigne 30 in grained leather which I purchased last June 2020 as a birthday gift for myself. Two weeks ago, I accidentally spill alcohol in the front right side of the bag. I wiped it right away with my hand and with the twilly but it developed a scratch on it. You can see in the photo attached.
I went to the store today and told me there’s nothing they can do about it, which I was really frustrated. They just advised me to massaged it or just use my hands to let go of the scratch! Dior has the bad after sales compared to LV and Gucci. So, what to do know with my expensive purse with a scratch on it??

Welcome to the Purse Forum!

I have had after sales service from both LV and Dior, and they are both very good. It really depends on the extent of damage on the bag, though. For example, since this damage is on the flap of the bag, they would need to replace the entire flap to repair this damage, which is such an extreme fix that replacing the bag would be easier. If it were a design defect, then I'm sure they would replace the bag as I've heard from several members of the Dior forum. However, since this damage was not due to a design defect, they cannot replace the bag for you.

There are two ways you can hide the damage. One is to tie a twilly around the flap this way. It's pretty and it also personalizes your bag in a way.

The other way to conceal it is to have an artist paint something special to you in that spot.

One other way is to redye the bag, but I don't recommend that since it changes the texture and finish of the leather, and they may not be able to match the exact same colour on your bag.

I agree with average joe...this isn’t really a quality issue of Dior’s but that the alcohol and removal damaged the bag. Right now seeing a lot of issues with folks damaging various bags with hand sanitizers including canvas being “eaten away”. I’m not sure there is much that can be done. You can always contact Leather Surgeons or another reputable repair service to see if they have any ideas but it appears the texture has been damaged. Good luck with whatever you decide.

Contact leather surgeons! I sent in pictures of a Chanel bag that had white out spilled on it. I was quoted 276$. Look on YouTube Good reviews. They have beautiful customer service as well. And they try as best to keep soft texture. They have worked on vintage bags making them look brand new. And Chanel personally uses them for repairs.

Hi all,

I have a patent "white/ivory" Lady Dior from 2004 which I purchased from a large online LA consignment store in 2017; I was giving it a really thorough clean of all the patent leather, interior and hardware when I noticed a change to the surface of the reverse side of the 'O' on the metal charms. The markings look like water marks at first glance, however they are tactile and you can run your finger over them and feel a slight bumpiness for some of the marks.

This only occurs on the back of the 'O' and none of the hardware anywhere else on the bag has pitting or tarnishing or a change in the surface....just the usual micro scratches. There is also no issue with the surface quality of the patent leather.

At first I thought the markings was residue or muck on the metal so I used an alcohol wipe on the metal and then buffed it without any change. I should also mention the patent leather tag which sits behind the 'O' is clean and smooth patent leather.

Any ideas what this might be and if it is going to spread or get worse? I am really curious what could have caused it as I keep all my bags carefully stored and frequently polish the hardware on all my bags. Is there any way I can repair or fix this either though my own means or a luxury repairer? I have no authenticity card or DIOR receipt so Australian Dior won't touch the bag and will not assist me (I have been down this frustrating road before with other DIOR items)

Also I noticed there has been some discussion lately on the material the D.I.O.R charms are made of. Some have said they are a variant of palladium or brass, but are they genuine silver plated? I have been trying to find a suitable polish agent but most of the silverware polishes specifically advise against use on silver PLATED items.

Below are some photos - I have tried to capture the texture of the surface but it has been quite difficult...
