Hi there, some months ago, Orid helpfully suggested using Collonil 1909 leather lotion on my black LD. The leather on my bag has got quite matt and whilst I know that the lambskin isn't supposed to be super shiny, I've ordered some online and I'm hoping that the Collonil will give it a bit more gloss. Has one used it and did it have the desired effect?

Many thanks guys :-)

I haven't used this product before, but I would advise using a very small amount only on black lambskin. If you use a generous amount, then when the product dries, it will leave faint white stains on the black leather. I tried a product that is similar called Lexol and it left white stains in certain places. I cleaned some of the stains off (it was just product residue), but somehow I kept finding more and more of it as I was using the bag.

Hi,

I'm new to Dior. I just got my first Dior bag 2 weeks ago which is a fuschia grained leather medium diorissimo bag. It was a perfect gorgeous bag. However, Today I was sitting at the sofa at the mall, having the bag on my lap, and was trying to stand up to help my mom with her food, I dropped the bag and I was trying grab it but instead, I scratched it and now it look like this. Is there anyway that I can try to fix it or if you guys think they could fix it at the boutique?

Thank you so much! I'll try to take it to the NYC boutique first. If they won't repair it, I'll try a leather repair specialist.

Instead of taking it to the NYC, I took my bag to a Dior boutique closer to me. They said all Dior boutiques send their bags to the same repair shop. I got my bag after 2 weeks. They said they can't repair the loose stitching. They said they would have to take the pieces of leather apart to stitch it back. It would take too much time & it may mess up the bag. It this true? I didn't think they would have to take the bag apart to restitch this area.

Yes, I use it on my most delicate leathers. Use according to the instructions and you will be absolutely fine.

It is not obvious in your photograph, but I suggest if you are near a boutique you take it in and ask their advice. :smile1:

That is strange to hear. I don't think they have to take apart the bag, and even if they do, it won't mess up the bag.

When I got my Gaucho bag repaired because on the the fasteners came off, they separated the lining from the bag, put a new fastener in, and resealed the lining so I couldn't even tell the bag was ever fixed. Don't know why they can't do it with the Miss Dior.

This is really a helpful thread!!
To contribute, I'm not sure if anyone else's experienced this before, but my Pink LD got color transfered so badly from a Blue Sweater (my other black clothings do no harm to it)... Never was I aware of any other material apart from jeans when it comes to lambskin, so thought I'd share...
I sent the bag straight to my local boutique which wasn't where I purchased it, but the staff was real nice and took good care of my case. Apparently it will take 2 months since they have to send the bag to HK to refurbish and change the handle/strap (as I said, it was terribly 'dyed' in blue) with a charge of NZ$200 (approx. US$120) which I can't complain. Overall I'm happy with the service and hopefully my cutie will return sparkly new again ;)

May I know where you from?
Becos my Singapore boutique said to send my dior to HK to fix will return only in 6mths time! I just wondering if he trying to give me a longer timeframe so I can refrain from sending it over.

I'm from New Zealand. The boutique here told me it would take 2 months to fix it in HK but some weeks ago (after 1 month sending it in) I got called to pick it up. Unfortunately I couldn't make it before my flight out of the country so till now I haven't got the bag. NZ is clearly further from HK than Singapore is so I think you should check with other SAs as well about the approx time frame

Thanks for reply! Will ask other Sa again.
Pls share your bag when it gets back.

Mine was due to the plastic sticker stuck onto the leather and caused some discoloring thus need to color the few patches back.

Hi, I just got my first new lady Dior in black lambskin last week, when I took it out to use it I think I may scratch the opening with my finger nail, as I examine the bag carefully at the boutique and j didn't see the scratch then. the scratch is only noticeable at a certain angle. I tried to rub it gently with my finger as I saw someone said that the oil will smooth it out but it didn't work. I also tried some leather conditioner in very small quantity and it didn't work either. Any suggestion on what I should do? If I take it back to Dior in a few months for cleaning, do u think it will get rid of it?

Thanks!

Dior would have to redye that area to hide the scratch, and that's an extreme measure to cover up one little scratch.

Sounds like you did everything you could but the scratch didn't go away. It also sounds like a really small scratch. My suggestion is that (since you can't see it from every angle) you should just enjoy your bag, and get it redyed when it gets more scratched up. Don't do it now. It's not worth the hassle.

Thanks very much! Do you have any recommendation as to how I can avoid my finger nail scratching it further, I'm struggling to open it without my finger nail getting in the way [emoji29]

File your fingernails with a nail file before using your bag. It makes the tips of your nails smoother and less able to scratch the bag. Also, you may want to consider leaving the zipper open when you wear the bag. The contents won't come out. This will mean that you won't need to rush to get into your bag if you need to grab something because you won't need the extra time to open your zipper.

With the zipper opened, insert both your hands into the opening with your fingernails against each other (so the back of your hands are touching). This way, the skin on your fingers will contact the leather first, not your nails. When your fingers are inside the bag, then push against the zippers to widen the opening in order to grab something you need from inside. You'll get used to this quickly.
