Can this still be fixed ??

There's no fix that I can think of aside from keep it conditioned and moisturized...basically keep it from worsening.

You can actually take it to Dior or a leather repair specialist and they can re-dye the bag, which can hide the scuffing.

Hi all,

Would like to check with all Lady Dior owners, how do you usually open the bag to access your stuff inside. Do you push it down or lift up the flaps? Just wondering which would be more gentle as just worried that the opening might get overstretched and sag?

Someone also mentioned using plastic boards to maintain the shape of the bag when storing, is this necessary?

Thanks!

There is a thread that shows the opening being used by pushing down.

As long as you don't stretch the opening and are careful getting things in and out of the bag, then the opening shouldn't over stretch.

And plastic boards aren't necessary. The Lady Dior does not lose it's shape that easily. If you want to be super careful, though, boards are a good idea for any structured bag.

I used wet tissue to wipe my bag but the patent layer totally got peeled off at the handle exposing inner matte leather. If anyone know why it is like this and how to restore the patent layer please advise. Your advice is greatly appreciated. TIA.

You can bring it to Dior to see if they can minimize it, but I doubt they will be able to do anything to fix this. The patent layer cannot be reapplied in patches.

Never use water on patent leather. The water can seep into the leather at the edges and embroideries (essentially any tiny holes in the patent leather), and separate the plastic layer from the leather below.

I've used to a damp cloth to wipe down the dust specks on my patent leather bags before putting them away. Some of the bags I've had for years (5+). This has never happened. I wonder if something else, more abrasive, was used.

They might be able to replace the handle completely, but a repair would be very difficult I would have thought. There are specialist products for maintaining patent leather, I use Collonil Lack Polish, but it is essential to follow the instructions. Water should definitely be avoided, though a really well wrung out damp cloth should not have caused this...

Hope you can get it sorted.

It happens where there are entry points for the water, especially at the corners where there may already be wear and tear.

Hi there, some months ago, Orid helpfully suggested using Collonil 1909 leather lotion on my black LD. The leather on my bag has got quite matt and whilst I know that the lambskin isn't supposed to be super shiny, I've ordered some online and I'm hoping that the Collonil will give it a bit more gloss. Has one used it and did it have the desired effect?

Many thanks guys :-)
