I'm the same with the leather gel. I tend to put on a murder mystery show (as they last a couple hours and you don't have to pay too much attention) then I use a very soft muslin cloth to buff the gel into the leather then a fresh muslin to buff off. I only use muslin cloths that have been washed severel times so they aren't abrasive. I love spending this thereputic time with my Mulbs.

I love caring and spending time on my bags. I also find it very therapeutic, definitely not a chore. I don't have a regular routine it's as an when I have spare. I also have what DH refers to as a " hospital" area in a spare room. ;) where most of my bags are stored on shelving

I love to rotate and get as much use out of them all as possible. It's always a joy selecting a different bag. What I find a pain is changing over bags :graucho: I struggle with mornings and hate the rush to work, never enough time and always a panic. Stuffing and dustbags tend to go flying and get left sprawled all over.............................

I am very interested in the responses as I have a bag that has been languishing unused and brand new for almost a year. I can't bear to see it get damaged and I don't know how to apply the Collonil products. I will be curious to see what all of you suggest.

Mulberry store sprayed mine with waterstop @ purchase. I understand spray should be 1st layer of protection.
The spray concerned me to use. I don't do thin layers well--really hose down stuff with aerosols! But, it's not sticky. Excess wipes from hardware easily. Mistake-proof.
As others mention, leather gel's fun! I use it much more than spray. Often monthly--which may be excessive. Another of my flaws...

Best to use spray outdoors--gel's fine indoors, no bad odor.

I'm not sure you could hurt newer bags, no matter how you used the collonil products. Unless you applied them with sandpaper.;)
Darwin leather...maybe some vintage bags...might discolor & need different products. Mulberry reference subforum has info. about that, if interested.
Many here collect vintage & are great resources to ask.

Hope this helps & enjoy your bag!

I enjoy caring for my bags. They're investment which deserve tlc. When I'm ready to swap over my bag I always give it a once over with a Lord Sheraton wipe before going away in its dustbag.

About every month or so I enjoy spending time treating and nourishing the leather in front of the tv. I use Lord sheraton and a cloth for buffing. A secret tip (pinched from my finance's shoe care regime) is to give the bag a once over with some old tights. Really brings out the shine. Made my preloved printed oak ew bays look brand new! :-)

Initially, I bought the recommended collonil products & stared @ them numbly.
HOW was I supposed to use the stuff on mulberry bags?!
But, I experimented & found my care routine--which is a pleasant meditation rather than a chore.

I put this care time @ month's start or end--as a fresh beginning.
It's calming to work gel into leather with bare fingers. Then, to become absorbed in buffing away excess with a towel.
Watching my bags renew brings such a sense of accomplishment. The process engages every sense & puts me into a "happy zone."
I know some chaos clears & I appreciate my collection in new ways.
For that short time--nothing else exists but the color & texture of beautiful handbags.

I find a hot cup of coffee/tea & good music add to my experience nicely.
And that spraying collonil waterstop has no meditation benefits whatsoever--just an empty zap&go moment.

So--
Do you have a care routine for your mulberry collection?
If so, does it add joy to owning the brand?
Or, is leather maintenance just a dreaded chore you avoid?

Looking forward to reading everyone's ideas. Thanks for sharing.

NOTE: from my post (in quote), to last post above, originally was a thread entitled, "Mulberry Care Meditation."
It has been moved here by mods--which seems to ignore exploring the meditation benefits of a care routine & just groups it in with general care tips.
Hopefully, the ideas will continue to help here. Mods probably know best. Thanks.

Hi, I've been looking through this thread as I've purchased a deer brown Lily with pen marks inside the lining. The lining is the reverse of the leather.
Could I have some advice please on what would be the best method to try and remove these marks.

Many thanks in advance xx

Ladies, I am so so sad!!

I got oil on my Dorset!!! My brother and I were out shopping and decided to get some burgers and chips from Five Guys and while we were waiting for our order I went to the loo. My clever brother however decided to put the paper bag with the food inside my Dorset. It took us an hour to get home and by that time the paper bag with the food had completely soaked up the oil from the fries which I were thrown in the bag without being placed in a box or something...

I am so gutted! Any ideas how to clean it? Thankfully it's only on the inside but I still hate it!

Thank god it didn't soak through. Once upon a time my kitten and her greasy little mittens got a small grease stain on my beige chanel I used corn starch to help absorb it. It helped a lot but didn't get it all best of luck!

I almost started crying when I saw it! I am really careful with all my bags and I do my best to keep them in pristine condition!
