I know it;s probably been done to death here a billion times but I've just bought (on behalf of my dad) my mum a Mulberry in tan for Christmas. It is preloved and judging from the photos it's gorgeous but has few grubby marks round the edges from having a life I guess.
I have bought online some Collonil waterstop spray but what could I use to clean the grubbiness off before waterstopping it? What does the Collonil leather gel do?

Ladies, I am so so sad!!

I got oil on my Dorset!!! My brother and I were out shopping and decided to get some burgers and chips from Five Guys and while we were waiting for our order I went to the loo. My clever brother however decided to put the paper bag with the food inside my Dorset. It took us an hour to get home and by that time the paper bag with the food had completely soaked up the oil from the fries which I were thrown in the bag without being placed in a box or something...

I am so gutted! Any ideas how to clean it? Thankfully it's only on the inside but I still hate it!

Oh no, really sad for you. I've read somewhere you can put talc on it. I think you rub it in and the talc absorbs some of the oil but I'd check it out first.

Failing that you could have it professionally restored but it is expensive. The furniture Clinic might also sell some products that may help

Good luck, hope you manage to find something that will improve it.

Is there a helpful thread about dealing with clever brothers? I'm wondering what you are going to do with him... Hope your bag gets well soon!

He has apologised so many times since it happened! I mean, I wouldn't have expected that it would happen, and when he told me that he put the paper bag inside my bag, I was completely okay, because we were really carrying A LOT of bags! He's just moved back to the UK so I was helping him shop for his flat and we also did some really early Christmas shopping and at that point we had too few hands and too many bags!

I am gutted but also relieved that there aren't any stains in the exterior.

I did apply some talc a few hours ago and I am thinking of leaving it until tomorrow morning. Only applied it in part of the stain though just to check if it works! Fingers crossed!

Hi,

I'm new here (and to Mulberry!) and would like some advice before I take the plunge on my first Mulberry! It's a Bryn in Flame that's basically pristine and i LOVE the colour!

However, I'm TERRIFIED of colour transfer and stains!! I had an issue with a stain Saffiano black bag quite recently and I was very very upset and I've never felt the same about it since - the specialty of it is totally gone :( so I really really do not want it to happen again. I've been doing my research and expected denim transfer to only be a real issue with the lighter coloured bags but quite a few people have said on here that they've had it with the flame too.

I am planning to spray it with Collonil if I do make the plunge - but will this completely remove the risk of the colour transfer? or will any transfer be removed quite easily with leather wipes? I literally live in jeans so I'm quite scared! any advice?

I apologise in advance for the ramble!!

thank you!

Hello ladies! I am thinking about getting my first Mulberry bag (I have the continental wallet already) I love the Bayswater i oak, but I am so worried I will have to baby the bag?does the oak scratch/get watermarks easily? Would I be better off with a darker color? Any advise appreciated!

Welcome!

I would start with something more forgiving.

I have a choc SBS and oak Bella in NVT and they definitely need more care than some if my others, the oak more so.

Having said that, lord Sheraton wipes and lashings of collonil have so far protected mine from any marks.

Glossy goat, grainy print. Pebbled should all be hardwearing, personally if you don't like any marks to show, I would start with one of the easier leathers.

Hi lynxlynx! Welcome to the wonderful world of Mulberry; be warned that it really is addictive and you are unlikely to stop at one! ;)

I agree with Louliu in that oak is definitely more high maintenance than, say, choc but you need to go with what sings to your heart. As long as you use Collonil before you take her out, and give her the odd spray/buff every so often, she will give you years of service and pleasure. You don't see so many oak Bays by coincidence! They really are THE iconic Mulberry and become individual to you as they age and acquire a patina of their own. They will certainly darken to some degree over time, but I personally love oak above every other colour; I have oak in the Bayswater, Small Bayswater Satchel (which I use a lot!), small Anthony (ditto!), Euston, Somerset Dispatch, Somerset Satchel and small Lily.

Don't be afraid! Go with what you love and use her!

Keep us posted! :)
