Hello Chunders...was just going to reply to you on the other thread, better here though! I have the carecard for my Blenheim in Antique Glace and it does not mention Collonil and I remember one of the ladies here checked with Mulberry Customer Service and they did not recommend Collonil. This type of leather is sealed, so more so more water resistant and should just dry off! I have not tried mine out in the rain yet though! The best care seems to be buff with a soft cloth and enjoy!

In terms of it softening, I think it does stay stiffer than Darwin but I prefer my bags not to sag too much so think its great! Hope that helps...

Thanks silver! Just as well, as I live in one if the wettest places in the UK- it seems that antique glacé was the right choice, purely by accident! Here's hoping it bears up to the rain! thanks again for all your help. X

Hi Chunders...I found the link I was looking for here with Antique Glace and some folks have used creams and gels on them happily so here is the link..I may do the same as our Roxanne Queen Ellie uses the BMW cream on hers to stop fading, that should not be such an issue with black, I think Ellie has the lovely Burgundy/purple version. I bought that from the garage to use on other bags prone to fading as I have the Olive Darwin leather.

You're an ANGEL - thanks so much (its lashing with rain as we speak!) on the topic of caring for bags do u know if any liners that would be good for a roxanne? The type that you have different compartments that you can swap between bags?

Thanks again for your help x

I use a leather protector spray with sunscreen - BMW & Mercedes use it for protecting leather seats from fading.

It is the UVA rays that plays havoc with the green/blue & pink/plum dyes especially - it breaks down the chemical compound in the dyes.

This had prevented colour change 100% to my plum, verdigris & ginger AG.

Hope this helps

Wow! Any idea is black fades? If so I'm off to BMW tomorrow! What's the name if the cream? Thanks!

Hello Chunders , Yes indeed, I eventually bought a VIP Liner in the business size, rather than the classic, which is smaller, it is one of my best purchases! It was recommended here. I found mine on eBay and it cost about £27 but its so worth the money. Until then I had found the Roxanne difficult to use with no organisation but now I am a complete convert. I bought the purple colour which I would not normally choose but it works with Oak and Chocolate and Olive which are all Mulberry colours that I own. Well worth the money, there are other brands too but this is simple to use and stylish too. Yes bucketing down with rain in Edinburgh too, mild weather but wet!!

I should have said the brand for the bag liners is Tintamar, VIP liners.

The BMW stuff is just called Leather Lotion, with UV protection. I think its pricey though, I am sure I paid about £15 for a bottle 375ml, it comes in a box with a couple of little sponges and cloths.

Black should not be likely to fade, I have the Olive leather that can go an odd patchy colour so I was keen to use it on that.

Hey girls, I'm sure there was a "hairy" thread, but I can't seem to find it. I've just received a gorgeous Mixed Leopard haircalf Bays Clutch in the post from a trusted seller on eBay - am delighted as it was one of those bags you dither over, and then feel sick when you realise you should have just bought it when it sells out! Anyway, my beauty arrived today and is perfect, but I've only ever had NVT and patent bags before, so I have no idea of the care advice, and the card has been separated from the bag at some point. I've e-mailed Mulberry but they haven't replied yet. Would be most grateful for any advice. Thank you.

Any advice on what I should use for my Polly Push Lock? The corners are getting a little dry/rough. Also - what should I use for the lock? It's getting a little scratched (nothing major but still....) Thanks in advance!

Hi Mrsmulberry - madmadmo has a haircalf Mabel, and might be able to help you? :smile1:

I received today a Mulberry Hanover which I have been after for a couple of years. The seller said it was in vgc but I beg to differ. It is made from the same Havana leather as my Mulberry Rivington. It is a bit like the antique leather Mulberry used on the Poppys. My Rivington has been really well looked after, stored in it's dustbag when not in use, and is dark and glossy. My new bag looks like it has been sitting in the sun for 4 years and is very faded and has faded unevenly. I told the seller I was disappointed and she has agreed to a refund. The trouble is I love the bag.

I wanted to attach my photo of the two bags but for some reason it is not allowing me.

The question is do you think I can restore the Hanover to it's former glory ?

Woly gel will darken the bag that might be a good way to get the colour down a bit it blends away water marks on oak Darwin beautifully just do it bit by bit and let it dry out totally in beyween, also you could email the furniture clinic form some advice they are always brilliant.
I have used the woly gel trick on my oak Langford so same finish.

Thank you for your suggestion. I have actually checked the Furniture Clinic's website and they have some (miracle) leather restoration products that come in different colours, so maybe that is an option, thank you. I have taken a side by side photo of my Rivington and the Hanover so I could e mail it to them and ask if I could restore the Hanover to the same appearance as the Rivington. Yes, I'll do that. I've also got some Woly gel.

The thing is the seller has said that I can send the bag back but I don't really think I can send it back afer I've been tampering with it which is my problem !! I guess I need to have a good idea whether I am going to be successful or not.

Thank you for your feedback.

PS Love the Langford too !
