Hi All

What about Bayswater Ledbury's where the piping wears in the corners. I would use shoe polish on cheaper bags to re colour the bag back to black, as don't care what happens to them. But with Mulberry that's a different matter.

Any ideas please.

Good shoe polish is not a bad idea at all if the leather is only a little scuffed, I did the same on my choc Bays and it looks great.
I just brought 1 of my other Bays to Mulberry to have it repiped, waiting for confirmation of the costs. Will let you know later.
But the Mulberry store manager told me that some ladies just cut the piping at the part where it sticks through the leather and then clued the leather together!:amazed: I don't think I would do that, but it is a chaep "solution"!

OMG I would never be able to cut the piping if it got that bad. I have only had the bag a short time so maybe like the VIP liner, I should get a handbag hook, so it never goes on the floor at all.:D

Thanks for confirming the shoe polish thing, hopefully it will only ever be slight scuffing, fingers crossed.:noworry:

Hello,

Great thread!.

I thought I would treat my pre owned, very lightly used Almond & Cognac Phoebe as the leather seemed very dry, so dry the handles were creaking!.

I'm not sure I've applied the Collonil in the right order?!. I've applied the leather gel first and was then going to apply the protector spray?.

The gel has caused the leather to darkened by a shade which isn't too much of a problem. The thing that worries me is that its left dark patches on areas of the bag, most noticeably on the handles. I applied the gel evenly and rubbed the bag lightly afterwards to ensure there was no residue but this has still happened?.

Should I of sprayed the bag with the protector spray first?. I thought if I did this then the bag wouldn't fully benefit from the gel treatment?.

Is there any way of removing or lightening the darker patches?.

Your thought or opinions would be appreciated, thanks

the leather gel should dry out eventually leaving a even finish. i have has this issue in the past and its fine now. once you feel the ithas dried, spray a coat of the water stop spray and leave to dry. repeat this a couple of times and leave to dry. then polish with a soft cloth and then you bag should be lovely and waterproof.

Hi there!

I am intersted in buying a mulberry, but since I have many bags in brown or tan, I think I will go for something lile vanilla darwin.
The question is, how can I clean it? I don't speak for specific stains, such as ink, pen etc, but if it gets a little dirty from the everyday use, how do I clean the leather?
I used to own a white leather bag, and it got quite black as I wore it, just form the contact with my clothes or the everyday life in the city!

I would appreciate your help! Thanks a lot!

I have used black shoe polish on my Mabel and brown on my somerset shoulder to cover very small scuffs. Once buffed you would never know where the polish has been.
I am very happy with the results (and very anul about my bags) and think it's a great thing to do on small scuffs to disguise them.

Thanks bag*mad*bags.

I was having a bit of a panic when I went to put the bag away the next day and found the darker patches, I'd spent about an hour applying and buffing the bag!.

Its been three days since I applied the gel and the marks appear to have blended in a little more. I think the more I use the bag the less noticeable they will become and will blend in naturally. I'm very protective of my bags and hated the thought that I'd done the wrong thing!.

Will apply plenty of water stop spray before I take the bag out for the first time!

Thanks again.

I bought a lovely saddle leather mabel purse from another tpf member and when I received it she also sent me one of these collonil premium conditioning creams with it
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220663505660&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT

It totally removes scratches on saddle leather making them like new wanted to share this with any other saddle leather fans I have used it on both chocolate and oak finish and worked beautifully on both.
