Didn´t you just post about your croc bag in the Authenticate thread and was told it doesn´t look authentic? Maybe you have more than one`?

If you don´t have Cites for an exotic from a re-seller I don´t think you can obtain them anywhere.

Recently I have purchased a vintage H croc Kelly from a Japanese reseller via a proxy company. When the bag was mailed out to me, it was held up at the customs saying an export permit (think they mean the CITES cert) is required.

While I'm asking the reseller whether they have the CITES / original receipt for the bag, it is very likely that I have to pick up the bag in person :shrugs:

Am still figuring out how can I bring it through the customs when I leave Japan back to my country, perhaps bringing another CITES certificate that I have? I do have one, with similar specification, only the colour of the bag is different....is it going to work? :thinkin:

thank you for answer, Yes i have 2 croc birkin :smile1: and i can have a new cites from H shop??

Hmmm that may not be possible since Hermes store is not the one selling you the bag at the first place?

No...i bought from private seller and the seller told didnt is the first owner too.....and what they will do if you have a vintage bag and with out everything....i only think shop will have the way to give you again for cites or if you got it is present that mean you will never can sent it for spa or repair???.....

interested too if anyone has had luck getting a replacement CITES for an Hermes bag bought in another country...

i went to Hermes BH this past week and they told me if it was bought from another country's Hermes boutique, they have no way of tracing the origin of the bag to provide a replacement CITES :(

so now im wondering if i should never go overseas with my exotics =X

I recently tried to purchase a 2nd hand croc kelly and had gone to great length to find out about this CITES situation. So here is what I found:

1. If the CITES was issued at the first time bought from Hermes, they would have had a photo copy on file which might be able to be retrieved. But they only have the files since year 2000. Anything before year 2000 is not deemed to be recoverable.

2. If the CITES was never issued at the first time the item is bought from Hermes, they would not be able to issue one at a later date. This could happen when a EU customer bought from a EU store and didn't request one to be issued. Some people just don't care about it. As long as they don't need to export it outside the EU, they really don't need one.

In both circumstances, Hermes will no longer issue any replacements after the bag was sold from their stores. They used to but some people took advantage of it and used it for other bags or some doggy business, Hermes got into trouble with this. So they decided they would not issue replacement after the initial sale of an item.

Hope this helps those who are considering buying exotics. Also, ostrich is NOT categorised as endangered spices therefore do not need a CITES.

I had bought a 10 years old Poro Kelly from a H collector recently and since she had lost the original CITES, she asked Hermés for a reissue of it. And the bag indeed came to me w that document and the original receipt.

BUT- she was the first owner and long time client. The bag was bought at the same store where the latter document was reissued.

In my case, the bag was before year 2000 and CITES was never issued. The original owner was also a long time regular of a H store and she and I spoke to that store directly. They couldn't issue a replacement CITES. They even reprinted the original invoice of the bag, but no CITES.

My bag is from 2001- lucky me. However, I feel for you and really wonder how to go about it.

Maybe if you have a good relationship with your SM, ask for assistance and how to proceed. He/she can email the regional manager or Paris and inquire. I am sure they will be able to help you.

I already did all of that. I even contacted H headoffice in my country. Unfortunately the answer is still no, they couldn't do anything about it. Because they are not the store where the bag was original sold. Even less possibility for them to do anything about it. I was not the first person who had inquired about such and they couldn't help in previous cases. So I decided not to purchase the bag.

Very informative. Feels like I'm talking to a Hermes representive myself.

So sorry  - it all seems a crazy when you think about what the real purpose of the CITES is.
