Just wanted to chime in here about cleaning. I'm not a moussie expert by any means (I own all of two) but last summer, I dropped an olive while at dinner and watched in horror as bounced down my Le Monde est Vaste moussie, leaving a trail of olive oil. It's been drilled in to me by my SA not to clean these things on my own, so I brought the mousse in to H to be professionally cleaned by whoever they use. When it came back, the texture was significantly different -- much stiffer. I'm so disappointed. If I had known that was going to happen, I would have tried spot-cleaning it myself.
QF, when I read your post, I immediately wondered if your second mousse had ever been dry cleaned. Or maybe the difference is just because different vintages have different textures, I don't know. But I wanted to put that out there.
Thx so much, catsinthebag! Ever since I was a little girl, mom told me I should handwash all organic fibres eg cotton, silk & wool. Maybe a few decades ago the chemicals used in dry-cleaning were harsh & could damage fibres. With the idea imprinted, I therefore handwash every H silk scarf I have worn. No negative consequences!
