My latest mousseline love, Les Flots du Cheval in the blue colourway posted by calexandre (post 2644). The colours are listed as bleu lac/petrole/cobalt.

Without folding, the shawl is translucent, despite the rich and deep blues. In the last picture, I've folded it on the bias to show how dark it can be when layered.

What drew me to it is the purple, which can look like bleu electrique from certain angles. As with all the mousselines, it's really difficult to capture the colours accurately on camera. In real life, it is slightly less bright blue than it appears (at least on my screen) and the border is more petrol blue. There are several blues in the shawl and short of going through the leather swatches in the store, I'm not sure I'd be able to name all the colours, although I am pretty sure it would go well with the mid-blues introduced during this and recent seasons.

Sorry, that was much rambling and not much help re colours - I just know that I like it!

That is just beautiful! I love the way one sees different things through the layers of the silks in the mousselines...great pix, thanks for sharing them!

Hi Calexandre,
I have reposted my pictures here in the mouseline thread(with flash on me & without flash for the boxed one). Actually, I have researched ALL the Axis Mundi pictures on this thread before I marched into H. Mine is Axis Mundi cw6 gris/vert/prune. It has been posted before(a very long time ago). I must thank all of u for posting your prized Axis Mundi here. I would never have got mine if I hadn't seen the pictures.

I showed your wonderful picture to my SA when I was browsing in H last week. She promised to transfer it from another shop & told me to come back the following day. She showed me cw6, cw7 & cw10 on my next visit. All were lovely! But cw6 went best with my greyish sweater that day! Çw 10 is lovely as well. I have reserved it & am still wondering if I should get 2 cws for the same design when there are so many attractive mousselines out there! Can anyone here give me advice?20130310_083135-1.jpg

P.S. I am not technologically advanced enough to know how to turn my picture to the right position.:smile1:

Hmm, great minds think alike - I have narrowed my choice down to your 06 and possibly the 10 as well, although I have not seen a "real" picture of 10, only the dreadful scarf book pic. How would you describe 10 IRL?

From what I gather, these cws are so different that having both would be easy to justify, if you love the design. 10 seems really neutral.

I'm having some trouble envisioning how to wear these mouseilines. My life is pretty casual most days, do you think the mouse can work with linen pants or even jeans?

Hi Monceau,

I hurry to reply to your post. Don't commit yourself yet. I am going to the boutique to try on cw10 one more time tmr before deciding whether I want to get it or not. I will try to take a picture & post it here if they allow me.

For me, a very important determinant in deciding on a particular mousseline is whether the design can show on the moussie. Of the three cws shown to me (cw6,7 &10), cw10 seems to show the design the best. But since I am in jeans 95% of the time, I chose cw6. Cw10 is a neutral & I might need sth to wear on 'serious' occasions, eg when I go to meet my lawyers or accounants, which are actually quite rare. Hence the hesitation.

Monceau, I have seen & admired ALL your GMs & 90s posted. U really have chosen well! Both cw6 & cw10 are lovely & look well on u. I intend to wear them with jeans but I think TTcould be right when she shows us her lovely pink/salmon Mosaic(?) paired with heels & little black dress. It adds a touch of feminism to a very business outfit!

Do keep an eye on this thread because I will post cw10 if H allows me tmr.

Hi fellow moussies,

I am a new mousseline wearer & intend to buy no more than 2 until their durability has been proven by abuse by my critters at home. ( My cats don't claw my scarves but they try to catch the scarf whenever it sways in the air)

I wonder if anyone knows the number of mousse designs put out by H per season. I have just purchased Axis Mundi cw6 & have cw10 reserved. But I'd like to let it go if there are many more designs on the way. TIA!

Thank you, D Lee, you are a dear and so thoughtful! I have admired your collection as well and your pictures of 06 sent me on the hunt for this mousse! It sounds like we have similar wardrobe requirements - I am usually in jeans or linen pants/ summer dresses, with the occasional luncheon or meeting being the odd time I dress up during the day.
I think the 07 in fuchsia is gorgeous, but it would never work for me. Your lovely 06 is colorful, but not overbearing. Of course, I always love neutrals as well, so I hope you can sneak a pic of 10 and let us know your thoughts!:flowers:

D Lee, thanks so much for posting this beauty here-- both your wonderful modeling shot, and the close-up of it in its box. I'm also grateful to both you and Chestnutty (who posted over in the other thread) for the reminder that Doloresmia has posted this colorway too. It's amazing how many different under- and overtones these mousselines can show in various types of lighting and with various tying techniques!

As for your question about getting two colorways in the same pattern... I've been mulling that question too with this very mousseline design. Ordinarily I try to avoid duplicating patterns, but in this case I really feel the various colorways of this design look so utterly different that I'm seriously considering a second. I still can't stop thinking about the poudre colorway (#10), and it's so unlike my own #7 that my SA insisted it wasn't the same scarf and wouldn't believe me until I showed her the little beige plastic tag with the name of the design on it! I do think this gorgeous grey version you have with its bright accents also looks utterly different from the poudre, which to me looks a bit like an antique botanical print on parchment paper.

I'd better stop before I really do talk myself into #10 too.

D Lee, if my intel is correct, this season there are three mousseline designs: Les Flots du Cheval, Axis Mundi, and Ors Bleus d'Afrique. The latter hasn't yet been spotted in boutiques, but I know it's going to come in blue, red, and orange. The blue will be tone-on-tone blues varying from light to dark.

ETA: These are the GM 140cm square shawls-- I'm not sure how many/which designs will be featured as a mousseline stole.

Thx Calexandre! Your intel has predisposed me to getting the cw10. Since starting my H collection last fall, I have never bought a few cws of the same design. But for Ors Bleus d'Africa, I love it so much that I bought 3 cws, one red, one capucine & one B/W. And none was an impulse purchase! So I really have no desire to get it in another format. I love Axis Mundi more than Les Flots du Cheval. So I may get cw10 in the end. However, I'd still like to find out what mousseline stoles will be available for the season first. Hope other moussie lovers can chime in.

Your cw7 is so fabulous that I told my SA I would buy it without even seeing it in person(have never done this before). I only changed my mind when my I saw cw6 went so well with my jeans. My SA tried to talk me into buying cw10 because the design shows well on it. H has an excellent marketing strategy. Other than 90 silks, they always tell u they are not sure if the interested item has been re-ordered. So I always buy when I see sth I like for fear of missing the boat! Then when I see another cw which I like better, I purchase that as well! What a clever strategy!

:faint:

This is exquisite!

Thank you so much for posting the photos-- they definitely do show the layering effect. These pics are so much better than the H website ones!

Congratulations on picking this up.

This is SO pretty! I wonder when it will show up in our local boutique! This blue goes well with most of my jeans. Really want to see it IRL! Thx for sharing!

love this! congrats on your new moussie!!

Thanks, ladies. I hope the mousselines come into everybody's boutiques soon! I can't wait to see the other designs for the season. Oh, poor wallet...

Welcome to the mousselines, D Lee! This looks lovely on you. I have Axis Mundi in CW8 (rose indien/encre/rouge) and whilst I love the colours, the design doesn't show up anywhere near as well. I agree with calexandre that in this design, the different colourways do look like completely different scarves. Why don't you bring in the one you have when you try on CW10, to see if you think they are different enough to merit you buying that one too? And if not, Hermes will always come up with new designs and colourways that entice us. :smile1:

Axis Mundi is a must-have design for any scarf wearer (at least in my opinion), so having 2 cws in it is not really a bad idea. However, as you are expanding your collection, if you are buying another cw of this AM, I'd recommend a colorway with changeant effect. You'll be so amazed to see that effect. Also, changeant shawls are more densely weaved and weigh even lighter than non-changeant (about 30% lighter based on my observations from mine). Think about holding cotton candy in your hand ;), that how it feels with changeant. Amazing!

Also, for someone asking about mousseline stoles, from my observation, it's often for Spring/Summer collection and in one design (in place of cashmere silk stole for Fall/Winter collection). This AM GM mousse is from F/W '12 collection, while the Les Flots du Cheval and Ors Bleus d'Afrique are S/S '13. The mousse stole for S/S '13 is Galop Chromatique, which I'm holding my breath to see how H can translate this design into a stole without too much dead space.

Posted on SOTD thread - Gloirie by Gloria Petyarr. Wish H would reissue this as a stole. Love the fiery red/orange version that Markova has. And this pattern is so versatile.
