A year does not seem long to me, particularly with so much competition nowadays. 2x is a lot, but keep in mind that there are long-standing clients who spend that in one appointment. 2x gets you one mid-priced (for Hermes) piece of fine jewelry or a cashmere or leather coat and some sweaters - and that’s certainly possible for some in one appointment.

I also wonder if they are now holding back QB stock and more desirable bags so that they have as many as possible for the opening. That is pure speculation on my part though.

There will be more stock across all categories available for the opening - they are expecting a lot of people. There are private appointments (30-45 minutes) for the first couple of days only and then it will be open to the public. Because of the time limit on appointments, talk to your SA about getting a private appointment and let him/her know your wishlist in advance (bags and non-bags), so he/she can pull items for you before the appointment starts.

Thank you for the insight! So I’ve only been shopping at the Chicago H for 3 months and I’m at around 1:1. Do you think it’s still appropriate to ask my SA for an appt for the opening day? I wonder if he is likely already booked up.

I would ask if I were you! At worst, he’s booked and will tell you so. At best, you’ll get an appointment slot!

Yeah I have seen some fellow shoppers spend wayyyy more than me in one sitting so I don't want to bug my SA and ask when I know I'm not at the top of the list. Definitely ask for an appointment it can't hurt! Fingers crossed for both of us.

Agree. I am not a high spending client relative to others at my store, but I maintain roughly 5X (or at least that’s where I stopped counting lol)

An SA will ask clients if they would like an appt for the first day. If you really want to ask, I would suggest asking what his availability is for opening week, but I personally wouldn’t ask myself (Im not Chicago based, but a Madison client, and I was invited to the opening last year)

So the invite says “preview” Hermes in the Making, so it may be there for a few days and open to the public? They’ve had it in other cities and it was open to the public.

To answer a previous question, I was told the private shopping days were the 27th and 28th. I was also asked to provide a wish list in advance as the time slots are strictly limited and there is not time to browse. Browsing is my favorite part of shopping!

Wait, I have an appointment for the 27th. But that’s not the opening. What day is the non shopping opening? You are so awesome for sharing the details
