Just in Chicago Hermes in September. Forgot to ask for Trish, but was helped by older SA. 'The customer service there was indeed strange. SA asked me if I wanted a 'box' for a pareo when I indicated I wanted to buy it (it was displayed in a display cabinet). Um, yes? No, I'll just throw it in a bag/wear it home (it was cold and raining). And I walked in carrying my black 35 B, so they knew I knew the products. Somewhat underwhelmed by this store.

While I was not asked to shop across the street, it's across from Barney's so I did actually shop there, too however.:smile1: Would like to understand what this comment meant. Very odd and I'm sorry for your experience.

Barney's does carry some Hermes--watches, at least--Again, is it possible a clueless SA really thought Barney's might have what the OP was requesting? I totally believe that Hermes SAs can be rude, but this seems an unusual degree of subtlety for rudeness. . . .

Sorry for your bad experience. My DH refused to go to Hermes now after what he experienced in FSH. He expects luxury with good service.

I worked with Jared. He's very nice and helpful.

I really do not understand the snottiness behavior of some of these Hermes SA. Don't they realize that people that goes to their store are willing to spend money, knows luxury and expects excellent customer service.

I am shocked! I've had rude SAs before, but that would have caused me to make a scene and ask for the manager.

So sorry this happened to you!

I'm glad someone understood what happened!

Sorry if I did not explain well how it all went. The SA was asked to show specific colorways in a specific format (clearly I had some rather specific knowledge, that would identify me as a collector), but she did not even attempt to help me or show me anything before making that extremely rude comment.

Trust me, there was little subtlety about it!

The SA was cold and quite condescending. As I mentioned before, another SA (attentive and observing the exchange) was mortified. Her look said it all, and no doubt wanted to help me.

When I smiled with increasing awareness, somewhat in disbelief, a few drawers were casually opened but I could not bring myself to buy anything. Those kind of comments just spoil the experience, if you know what I mean.

Thank you.

Yes, I agree with your husband completely. I do not expect a red carpet, but basic decency. There is really no excuse for that.

I still love my scarves & shawls, but that experience was a bit off-putting.

Chicago Hermes, you can do better!

I was just in there today and made my first ever H purchase - a clic H. Paola was incredibly helpful! I should also mention that they held the bracelet for me for several days since I couldn't make it there right away. I wasn't expecting that because of the stories I've heard about H boutiques and I wasn't a prior customer.

Jared showed me a few bracelets to try on a few weeks ago so I could get an idea of the size I wanted. He was very nice and helpful even when he knew I wasn't purchasing that day.

Both times I've gone, I wasn't dressed up at all. I wore a huge coat today because it was cold, jeans, and wedge sneakers. I was also carrying a non-designer bag.

So sorry to read about rude SAs at the Chicago store. I also worked with Trish when I visited Chicago & she was not only helpful, but truly loves what she sells. Her enthusiasm for H products was contagious. I will definitely seek her out again when I'm in the area.

Went to the store today. I asked if Trisha was working. She wasn't today. The guy told me that and then pretty much walked away from me and didn't help me there. I was on,y in the city today and intended to look at a few items. I got annoyed by his rude behavior and left.

Ugh -- I hate hearing these stories about my home store!

While rude behavior is never acceptable, I can say that there have been some recent issues at the boutique. These include employee turn over and management changes.

However, there is truly an SA in Chicago for everyone -- all races, religions, genders, orientations, etc. are represented at the boutique & in this magnificent city!

A little flattery never hurts -- if you walk into any store and say "I heard that the customer service here is excellent. Can you please help me with something?" I think it would be difficult for any SA to follow up by being rude.

Just my 2 cents! :smile1:
