Chanel RTW ~ Reveals, Chit-chat & Info thread

Just an observation on Chanel seasons and RTW - with new collections 6 x a year plus the coco neige and beach collections, there must be an awful lot of clothes going to sale every winter and summer.
I know we all buy full price (and the feel good factor is huge) but it does also seem that you can likely grab a good bargain (if we can bear the wait and be patient!). I accept this is more difficult in the US perhaps where there may not be a Chanel boutique nearby - but it seems like a reasonable strategy if you are not desparate to buy another item and live in the right place. Especially with the high prices and the large number of often very desirable things.
Actually, last year the sale selection was pretty dismal. There was hardly anything because the stock was so low. I asked my SA if availability will improve now that the economy is opening up and she says that's uncertain. Anyway, I've lost my invite to the Chanel private sale because my SA moved away to the west coast, so I guess I'll have to stalk TRR. Lol. I don't think I have the stamina to build a totally new relationship with a new SA after 10 years with the same SA. I'm still buying a lot of fine jewelry and exceptional pieces so I'm sure I'm maintaining my status in the eyes of Chanel HQ, however I haven't set foot in a Chanel boutique since she left.

Anyway, does anyone know how hard it would be to gain an invite to the private VIP sale? Could I just show up and buy a pair of sunglasses from a new SA? Lol. I feel a bit silly groveling in front of a new SA for an invite especially since I've known the manager of that boutique for longer than most of them have worked at Chanel. Maybe I should just content myself with my Hermes events and stalk TRR for chanel sale items.

if you are at the level of buying fine jewellery you should definitely be on the VIP list - my opinion anyway. Perhaps others may know better.

Yeah I've been on the Vip list at Chanel 57 for many years but my SA recently left so I've been making all my purchases from her at her new boutique. I'm not sure if Chanel 57 will be willing to let me into their sale now that I'm not buying from them anymore.

Anyway, it was a lot of fun sharing my photos of the private sale with you guys over the years. It was almost like we were shopping together. I'm afraid that is an experience that being at Hermes can't duplicate.

Tykhe, perhaps you could ask the Boutique Manager to make an introduction to another SA and provide all your background history etc. I'm sure the Manager would not want you to feel uneasy about coming in.
Maybe, I'll ask my old SA if there is a way to get an invite. I don't really want to start over with a new SA especially since I don't really make small purchases at Chanel anymore. I usually just save up and buy jewelry a couple of times a year.

Anyone know how the sale selection was like in London .. just thinking ahead to Christmas sales...

It is really hard to start over with someone new, totally understand. Having a problem in a similar way with my new SA at H. I'm not exactly feeling the love from this new person and it's really turning me off the brand right now.
Yeah, also most of the SAs are really young and it feels a bit awkward dealing with them. When I first met my SA we were both in our mid twenties so it was a good fit. Now, I can't really deal with having some young bright eyed twenty year old trying to sell me a loud logoed jacket while promising to reserve me a basic black classic flap. I'm like "lol, I bought that bag when you were still in middle school."

Last January, it was good. But we were in lockdown so I had pieces couriered to me to try. The summer sale was excellent this year. Plenty of stock (I thought) but not necessarily the popular pieces.

Sounds promising. When you had pieces sent to you by post, were you able to return them for a refund if not right? Just wondering. I did order some tights in lockdown and they came with a note saying refunds possible but was not sure about rtw.

Yes, I did. I think they made an exception during lockdown as normally it’s final sale with sale items.

If you do not want to start with a new SA and prefer to work with your old one, I would ask the manager to assist you with anything you might need including private sale. There are also at least two old timers (from when I started in 2001). I also took a lengthy hiatus from the brand when my original SA left.
