Can you justify the price to your own mind by slashing two jackets or four sweaters(?) from next years shopping list? Or out of what you would spend on (fill in the blank) like bags?

I do not buy so many bags from Chanel anymore as I prefer to buy one or two from Hermés when given the opportunity. I can definitely skip more jackets/ rtw for the rest of the year and I do not need Chanel bags .. but I don’t know if I can justify that the jacket costs like two Birkins …at least here in Europe.

Do the white cream version, the black will be very blended in, and like you said the intricate works or decorations would show more in the ecru version.. The black will be more demure...it’s up to you though. The price is high so take your time try both, you’ll know right away if it’s worth the money, if it makes you happy , then it’s sold, but don’t be pressured by sales associates. Also, wear it everywhere to keep you warm because it looks comfortable, and if you can...post up close pics, so we can see the detailing. It probably feels wonderful , there’s no denying it’s fabulous.

Here we go again with the GOTH PRINCESS mishegas from VV’s Chanel PR motto: Chanel is so PUNK ROCK, ROCK&ROLL, GOTH PRinCess. Lol. stop that PR rep who insists Chanel can be punk rock.
Chanel can be a lot of things , but when a designer tries to steer in a direction that screams another fashion house it becomes un-original. View attachment 5235315View attachment 5235316

This pic does seem to reference goth prom queen (@brookynite, I think, made a reference to chanel borrowing that look from other designers). If I ever diet down sufficiently to be able to do a bare midriff (probably not in TThis lifetime, but I can dream) I’d be glad to embrace what parts of rhe look that I can afford The skirt reminds me of one of my grandmothers lace dresses. I borrowed it for a college event around 1985, and it had a faux bare midriff covered in sheer tulle or organza and of course the dress was much older than that. I wish I still had it.

Yeah, I've slowed down buying chanel rtw because I haven't felt excited by one of their designs in a long time. On the other hand, their stuff is showing up a lot on TRR for very reasonable prices and often times with tags. I've seen quite a few very nice recent cardigans pop up and I think I might pick some up once I tire a bit of the Hermes game.

Thanks for letting me know. From 42>38 isn’t bad at all. This jacket is tough to find…I saw one at Bergdorf in NY early October and should have bought it

I have been wanting this vca high jewelry necklace for years. Always thought "if I make x in a year I will get it".
Fast forward, I'm there. Still can't do it. I'm having a sticker shock. I can't justify spending more than a year of tuition on a necklace even if it doesn't change our lives.

The tag reads “Jacket Iridescent Tweed” and it does have a little sparkle and shine to it
The story is this was the only one left in the company and it was delivered late, which is why they had it available. So, it needs altered down a few sizes, but I feel pretty good about it!
And I feel REALLY good about somehow being able to use my double point day so, essentially, 10% off

Congrats! This jacket is lovely. Very comfy and the fit is great. I don’t want any more black jackets but I keep trying them on anyway. Enjoy!

Just an observation on Chanel seasons and RTW - with new collections 6 x a year plus the coco neige and beach collections, there must be an awful lot of clothes going to sale every winter and summer.
I know we all buy full price (and the feel good factor is huge) but it does also seem that you can likely grab a good bargain (if we can bear the wait and be patient!). I accept this is more difficult in the US perhaps where there may not be a Chanel boutique nearby - but it seems like a reasonable strategy if you are not desparate to buy another item and live in the right place. Especially with the high prices and the large number of often very desirable things.

I love the look of this jacket! I’m going to the store today to try some stuff on so hopefully they have something like this, I regret it so much that I didn’t preorder this earlier.
