Years ago, when my stepfather went on a National Geographic cruise to see penguins, everyone got NG red jackets that were nicer than this. I asked my SA why a puffy coat was 17K, and she said there was one with boucle and she will check for me.

Without getting further OT, your comment made me think… there are Lindblad/Nat Geo cruise destinations that cost $17k and you do still get the red nat geo parka. I’ve done their Antarctica cruise, which is a little more than the Chanel jacket, but that fact still puts the coat of the puffer into perspective.

A luxury cruise to a rare location, staffed with National Geographic lecturers and photographers, and a very nice parka included… or a single puffer coat for the same price.

Saw the Coco Neige yesterday and my SA was not a fan either. Very specific market. The rhinestone joggers are very heavy which makes them completely impractical!

Apparently VV's lines are making money?! Or selling very well according to another SA. The contrast between the core clients of the AD's is so stark. It feels like people loved Karl's sense of art on the runway translated (mostly) to real life versions; VV seems to be lower key on runway and real life is almost without a pulse unless it's a logo. JMHO

I appreciate both but prefer Karl's creations. Agree, the prices aren't that friendly and when the boutique has Loro Piana on on side and Dior on the other, it challenges mindless spend at Chanel. I do love the house and the service.

ari, I agree with you that the fit of the recent pants is quite challenging. Especially for me as I am short! I did buy one pair this F/W
primarily because of the wonderful feel of the fabric. Imagine your oldest, softest flannel shirt but even more lightweight, then Chanel applied a bit of sparkle. They are SO light and comfortable on, like wearing pj's. This pic is pre- alteration - there is almost 18" of fabric tucked under before hemming and puddling on the floor making these look like clown pants on me but my seamstress assures me they will be fine after she finishes working on them. I had loved how costa paired this jacket with these pants, the jacket is also pre-alteration, I loved the beautiful buttons. I have no need for yet another black jacket but I do reach for them often and this one is really pretty IRL. I also picked up a sweater coat from last year but forgot to take a pic, will post later. Also looking at a cardigan but that will be all for me this season, I am so looking forward to Cruise/Spring/Summer where I am seeing much more that interests me.FW 2021 pant fabric.JPGFW 2021 pants.JPGFW 2021 pants jacket combo.JPG

you rock the pants! Love this!

I would like Marc jacobs to take over Chanel in a new direction....bored of vv’s cropped jackets, flared pants, and denim work wear jackets. While it works for the young models , it doesn’t work for most women like she claims she understands so much... every time a celebrity is asked a question about Chanel, they’re like: “Virginie really knows women , and this collection is about free movement and is designed by someone who really understands women!” this quote is repeated over and over again by Kristen Stewart, lili rose deep, etc. all of the Chanel ambassadors who wear Chanel for free and wouldn’t pay 17000.00 for a nylon coat.

 Every single time, every collection with that VV knows women quote.

Yes, I heard the same. Virginie's collections have been selling very well, but towards the younger demographic. I don't know how either. Logomania maybe does better with younger clients constantly being on social media, or maybe they're banking on nostalgia? Many of her designs reference the house's archive so a lot of the younger clients feel they're now able get to get a piece they weren't able to in the past?

(unpopular opinion) I like Virginie at Chanel.

I actually do think she has a nice feminine touch. Some of Karl's designs are from men's perspective and less practical for women. However
1) Karl had better eyes for color. His tweed color mix is a lot more sophisticated
2) Karl was a big name, so he could resist the commercial calling and be more artistic at times. VV doesn't have this luxury. The CFO probably tells her what products deliver higher margin and she would follow the suggestion including more logos...just my guess. I mean...some of the pieces are just nauseating.

Agreed, Coco Neige was just too much for me. Really wish they would adopt some of the sensibilities towards logos they have with haute couture for the RTW collections, but the client base for Couture is drastically different.

The caving to the logo craze is partially a response to the lower sales during the pandemic. I have the feeling that VV was bowing to pressure from the suits upstairs. It was a tough thing for her to start her reign at a time that pajamas and sweats were the wardrobe of choice. That being said, i spent several hours today going through closets and pulling out things that have not been worn in a very long time. All I can say is that I have a new and better appreciation of the fabrics, trim and buttons on my older pieces. None of them are dated. The fabrics on the whole are far more complicated tweeds, in fact, despite wearing one particular jacket several time over the years, it was only today that I realized that there were minute sequins woven into the fabric! I can't even imagine how something that tiny was woven in. All I can say about the over logo craze, is hold your ground! This to shall pass!

That’s the one , Oh look at how cute it is!!! it looks so comfortable!
What’s the price on it? Great pictures, looks fabulous!
Thank you! Yes It’s very comfortable!! Here’s the tag392E5433-F1DF-4DC2-87CE-45A7DD92EF09.jpeg
I bought it from neiman Marcus a few weeks ago and as of last week they had another one in 36. It came in black and pink also but I think they’re sold out.

Dear Snowball, I didn’t have in mind these pants, they are pre fall, and they look good on you. The fabric is fine and the cut is nice. My only problem with them is that they a cotton and might stretch while sitting for long period. Of course the price puts me off. I had in mind the fall winter collection pants that are not only wide, but have pockets at leg and sipper and another fabric at the bottom of the leg.
I love the pre fall pants with the black jacket. I however still think that the black Paris Rome jacket is better in terms of details.
I loved the styling my SA made with your pants.
